@jono Hi. I use the site mainly for info' on my K8 engine (see X2s sportscar posts). However, I've just bought some new MX3 front hubs to use as a 'proof-of-concept' suspension design. I'll probably use these on all 4 wheels as I need to keep the parts count manageable. I've just noticed that the gearbox selector has seized solid, so, will probably need some advice with this too in the near future !
Hi I originally had the 1.6 auto until a lady rearended me whilst coming over Wroxham bridge ,she was too busy looking at the boats.it was nice car but a write off but wetted my appetite for the 1.8 v6
I came by this one by chance on eBay it was wrongly advertised and at a very low buy it now price..so I bought it ,
Afterwards the seller realised he had made a mistake and wanted to buy it back ,too late the deal was done
What he didn't realise was it's a special addition all leather upholstery and the extras.
I want hang on to it for as long I can but being retired and age creeping up ,I will be sorry to see it go
Regards Mushman
Hello, I am looking for a replacement water bypass pipe for the 1.6. It is the metal pipe that connects to the heater return and then runs along the front of the engine behind the heatshield to the water pump distribution unit. Mine has corroded away at the point where the O ring goes into the joint at the water pump end. I'd like to replace the whole pipe if I can find one. Any offers?
If you are currently working on a project, we would love to see what you are doing. And remember to drop back and keep us upto date as the project goes on. (Please use only one Topic per car)
Hi, I had the same problem last year with the transmission oil cooler which is mounted behind the grill in front of the radiator. I found a BMW 3 series cooler was very similar and I fitted it with a slight adjustment of the feed pipe bend. It has been working fine ever since.
Hi you have obviously tried eBay ,you may well find that the sensor is common to other vehicles, maybe the Mazda 623 or even the mx5 ,worth a try

Hi, I wonder if there is anybody even here anymore....
I lost the keys to my 1998 1.8 v6 with ecu K862 (K86118881B) and an auto locksmith attempted to code me a new one and seems to have ruined my immobiliser in the process (immo light on dash now stays on solid and won't go out) and he could not detect a signal from the antenna ring around the ignition barrel anymore. I am trying to find a service that can override the immobiliser and would be delighted if somebody could point me in the right direction.
I also have another car of the same year that I drove into a lake (they don't float btw) and fried the ecu in the process. I have bought a used ECU to replace it but obviously it needs all the mating and coding and probably a new immobiliser box as well, all that jazz, but I could only find an ECU with no accompanying box or key etc, so I would also like the immo bypassed on that.
Thanks anyone that can help.
Hi guys those still around ,I guess our numbers are dwindling ,parts are harder to come by ,and there are fewer of us left on the road ,I contacted my local mx5 group who were very welcoming and I will join them at some point for a run out ,I try and keep the mx3 going for as long as possible ,I would be good to see another one out and about
