@9c90a8247e=Valley:
family had this problem with a xjs auto 5.3
what happend is that the bands in the box had started to wear out, but as it would cost too much for the car had to get rid. gear box for that would of been 800( including bands torque converter, fluids and refitting.) car off road for 2 weeks
but this
sounds like your box is not building up propper pressure.
could result from contaminated fluid. torque converter, or bands slipping
however. best advice can give to you. is totally drain your gear box new fluids.
if no change get torque converter checked out,
then last bands. (but could results in new box depending on price)
hope this helps.
Thanks Guys for all the advice.
I think I'll phone around and get a road test and diagnostic done . . . and start praying.
Pity that many workshops are such rip-off merchants.
its slipping! in a spring clutch i could adjust it ok i wouldn last as long but it would run well for about 2 months!
but i dont know what to do with this!
flywheel and clutch are interchangable, mx6 has same gear box but heavier flywheel and stronger clutch.
Thats why mx6 guys switch to mx3 fly as its lighter and frees up the rpms.
I had a failed boot on the right hand side a while back, got it replaced…but I'm wondering if someone did get in there & the garage didn't clean the joint and repack with grease properly, so its continued to wear.
Confusingly, I did goto a local car park late last night (oooh matron!) and put it on full lock, left and right, and drove round in circles (forward and reverse)...and promptly they made no noise whatsoever!! Somewhat confusing.
However I was getting a clear clunking noise from the right side when going alternately forwards/backwards in a straight line, to check for inner CV Joint wear, so I get the feeling one of the inner driveshafts has gone (the right one from where the noise is).
Its a conumdrum, but I may well change the right hand drive shaft and see if the clunking & the clicking go away!!
last time i was in mazda there was a bloke asking the same question. overheard that mazda think the 1.6 box from the mx5 should fit and also th3 1.8se mx5 box on the v6. dont hold me on that just managed to get last part of convo but worth asking about that
yeh the pipes have been lying around for a bit but had to get them at that price
my Millenia ze is still sat in my Xedos 9 at work im takeing it out at some point soon hopefuly then it will be striped cleened up and rebuilt with all new seels porting the heads slightly thinking about some forged ally pistons as well but i have a ud pully ready for it will see waht ecu is in there it has the under hood obd1 conecter so its all good
as for jts bits i have the exhaust manifolds witch are heat raped and the all important turob down pipe also heat raped and i have oil lines and 2 guages fule pressure with sender and turbo boost guage with some pipeing and his custuim made dizzy heat shiled and starter heat shiled and a rather fancy turbo cover
yeh because its the inner one thats gone, i was just guessing that the sensor was broke too, as the movment from the inner cv would/should not effect the outer cv which as you guys know is on the outer one.
cant find an inner CV anywhere so im going to have to shell out on the full shaft! found it for £135 next day. others have been £120 but with me giving my driveshaft and them refurbing it, but that'll take 3 days.
Hi All,
Had the gearbox oil changed as part of a driveshaft replacement.
Unfortunately, didn't work. The problem appears to be getting gradually worse. Garage I got the driveshaft from "thought it felt fine"…brilliant.
Trying to find a manual gearbox specialist in E. Sussex now.
Edit: Mechanic did say the oil level was low though.
cv joint grease can be bought at any auto shop.
i payed 8 odd quid for a big tub.
not sure on oil but i guess it wont be much from mazda.
infact pm me and i will tell you exactly what oil it is as i have my hand book some where.
not sure how old this post is so sorry if a late reply and your sorted
@61b54fd668=Marco:
do corksport not do these? Bronzoil shifter bushings
just found out, yes they do, but with shipping costs etc it gets expensive..so is there anywhere else here in good old england that can do these…
Are you looking for a performance clutch? If you can recommend one let me know.
Here's the part numbers I was quoted last week by a parts guy at the mazda dealership around the corner: -
'96 1.8 mx3: -
Plate - K801-16-410F
Friction Disk - LF02-16-460A
Clutch Bearing - LF01-16-510

@1f19fab5cc=Welly:
theres a bolt on the gear box, quite a heavfty fucker to, take that out and put some more oil in till it start coming out then your full.
Where is this nut? No doubt I'd find it, but if anyone could point out exactly where it is, my day would be a little easier!
