Yes I think removing from the bottom is easiest… I had a bar with a chain across the strut towers to suppor the engine and I also used 2 jacks underneath... one to support the engine and the other to slowly lower the tranny down.
Getting the tranny off the engine is the toughest part...
Ok so they said it was definately burning oil.
You then need to ask yourself a couple of questions:
What OTHER SYMPTOMS are there?
Is it smoking? at startup? or all the time? when revved hard? what color?
Take off your oil cap, what do you see? any gunk? what colour is it?
When your engine is cool take of the water caps, what can you see? any oil shimmering on top? any gunk floating or on caps? dip a white cloth in it.
Open the expansion tank and look at the colour of the water, is there anything floating in it?
Do you have a misfire at idle? listen to the engine with bonnet up, then listen right by the exhaust, get someone to hold it at 3000rpm and check again, does it miss if you rev hard
What colour is the plug? is it wet or dry when you take it out? what does it smell like?
HOW MUCH is being lost?
Check your oil level when cold everyday for a couple of weeks and see if anything changes
Also check your water levels
Have you had to top it up in the past?
WHY is it doing it?
By answering the above questions it will give us a better idea why and then do further investigation.
There are only a few places oil can get into the combustion chamber.
A few things though, engine flush does not fix any of the problems that cause oil to be burnt.
But First off answer those questions for us and lets see if it is really burning oil
I just meant getting whatever chip you buy (eg Probinator) professionally put into the ECU.
I can't see how you would do it without Changing the loom to the milennia one and splicing in some of the internal wiring harness.
But as I said get a Millenia ECU pinout and compare it with the MX3 ECU pinout and that will tell you exactly what is different between the two. Then there is no guesswork
Usual is sparks, spark leads, distributer, crack in accordian that connects the maf to the inlet throttle bodie.
Could be a range of other sensors but these are usual faults
if the first set of faults revels nothing try pulling codes from ecu.

cheers cus its getting annoying especially when i just spent 41 pound gassing the a/c for !@"* all
there's nothing worse than spending that kinda money when they can test it first to check it's worth doing, i was lucky that my girlfriends dad's an aircon engineer and tested mine for me.
He told me that a bottle of the gas they use to fill the aircon costs about £5 and will do about ten cars, so they are making a hell of a profit on that!
Not sure, depends if it'll give the same resistance values as the VAF for the ECU to read. Even if you can configure the wiring to run MAF instead of VAF.
I know our VAF has the IAT sensor built into it too. Not sure if the MAF does for the KF?
The KF 2.0 and K8 1.8 are the same engine as far as I know. The KF is just a bored out version, everything else is the same as a K8 compared to a KL which have a few differences. Internally that is not sure about wiring or sensors.
I would say bung on the KF ECU and run a MAF but not sure of the differences between the harnesses. Some people on .com have droped in a KF but apparently that install is harder to do than a DE/ZE? :?
I guess the way to go for least restriction would be a MAP sensor. Now that would be something if we could figure that out without mega squirt!
Woho, its alive!
Guess something was wrong in my disy, prob the sensors. We now used a KLZE disty i had around and wired it into the HEI mod, works perfect :D
Gonna write a big summup on everything when im done!
My friend has my old volvo s70 t5. It now has 330hp and nearlly 600nM of torque, and has had a Limited slip diff fitted. Its front wheel drive, and she loves it now with that diff, what a differnce. I think, an mx3 with big power and a LSD would be wicked.
The mx-3 chassis is superb. I track mine a lot, and dispite only having 130hp, it shows some other machinery a thing or two..
