will be more bumpy, but will handle okayish…
Best bet would be to get shocks and springs as they are made to work together!
if you take your standard shock, and put stiffer springs on them, they dont work in harmony leading to excessive shock wear...
Go for a nice set of shocks and springs mate!
just got the car back today new tyres and that bottom ball joint. omg the state of it. no rubber casing or grease left on the thing. would describe it as an ants cock in the ass of a hippo, the ball was that lose
Quality job Gareth, I saw these about a month ago, the pictures cant put into perspective how much better they look in real life than our 264mm discs!
Was impressed with the motor too, exhaust sounds great too, although i definatley think id win the UK's loudest MX3 award, lol.
If i was keeping my MX i would get a metal works to knock out 20 hub/calliper brackets, that way all you need is discs and matched willwood callipers…..
Nice work Gareth, ps..did u manage to send those bonnet/headlamp rubbers?
My point exactly. Plus, having damn good brakes with budget tires could give some driver the illusion of being in control of a car when he (or she) truely are not.
Don't get me wrong, at the end of the day, there's nothing better than having great brakes with great tires just so long as people are aware of any limitations in their braking system.
@ce071cd300=Valley:
i know for the mx3 1.8 its 28 empty car etc just driver and nothing being transported. but with a fully loaded car should be 28.
if you look on the edge of the drivers door ( when open) you should have all the tyre pressure's there along with the excat colour codes and trim specific to your car.
You see, thats the kind of information newb's like me need!
nice one Valley!
Lisa
ok time to buy myself 4 new tyres, anyone recommend any decent ones, was think Toyo Proxies or F1's, wheels are 205/40 17 84W, so if anyknow of a good all round grippy tyre, please link me up :)
i brought a brand new set of h&r shock of corksrport and tockiko struts it worked out to be the same price as replacing oem parts even after customs tax. seem to be the cool thing about mx-3 its cheaper to buy performace parts than it is to buy stock . not many cars can say that :)
right if its a cv joint when you turn on slow corner is should give a clicking sound till you take the lock off.
following i had that a few weeks ago. ordered a cv joint from a listing off ebay. but i phoned them and got two for 70 posted. labour was 20 a side.
excluding vat. following that if you just get one its 40 for part and 20 labour. 60 altogeher.
also one thing to check it the top of the sus mounting on all four points. think call suspension leg caps. if they are thin or rusted. i know the back cost 70 quid just for the part and its only a mazda part from what i can find.
then its simple checks smoke revs. knocking (HLA's) exhaust, tyres. and ask service history.
CORRECT ANYTHING IF IM WRONG LADS.
ps check how smooth gear box change is especially if auto.
I tried it last night with a pair of pliers.
In one hour last night I got more achieved than I had in the past two evenings.
Dead easy, Thanks for the tip!
Bilstein do actually make a set for the mx3….. i found these thru demon tweeks..... following that front left light etc... u sure not bottom ball joint. as i thought my shock went. but was ball joint
I got my rear wheel bearing kit and 2x front brake flexi's for £90 del inc VAT and they came the next day :D
I was quoted £260 for parts and fitting off my garage (he's usually very good actually). Bought the parts myself - gave him the dosh cash in hand instead - £145 all in!!!
Fooking bargain! :D
I'll definately use the FordProbeStore again :!:
Kind Regards,
Gavin
