We were talking 1.6 DOHC here :D
-
1.6 stuff and there is loads of it for the 1.6 because of the MX-5
-
alright things you dont need in that 'kit'
: Turbo timer, just warm your oil up properly before you scream it,
and let your engine tickover for a bit before you turn it off.
: external wastegate, really only needed on massive hp race engines
: universal intercooler, OE IC's are much more effiecent then thosehardest part of turboing a non turbo car is the intercooler and pipework,
universal kits are available, but you dont always know what bends
and curves you need to begin with, so you should work that out first
then buy your pipework and reducers.cheap stainless manifolds will usually crack after a period of time( a proper made stainless manifold is in the region of 800 quid) what with the extra heat the turbo produces, cast is much better so if you cant find a mazda 323 manifold look at the cast 1.6 mx-5 manifolds, wich may have to reangled
anyway becuase of the different engine placement on the mx-5
and just to add a brand new Garrett turbo is in the region of 600-900 quid!
so imagine how much those turbos in that kit cost

anyway becuase of the different engine placement on the mx-5I did find a few cast manifolds for a turbo actually and they vary on price, I have included a crude copy of the mazdaspeed one as they have proper mazdaspeed MX5's in america

you would have to work out were the turbo would be placed
with the miata manifolds to see if it fits in the mx-3 bay.
But they could work with use of a reangling plate….
the advantage is though you getter a much better choice
of turbo you can fit, the common ones like garrett T25 T3 / GT25
are alot cheaper second hand inlcuding TD04 / 05with the mazda 323 manifold you are stuck with IHI VJ series
unless you made an adaptor plate to take others.

Bumper looks poo though, FMIC FTW but it looks TOOOOOO much, takes over too much of the front end, rest of the car is spot on though.
