I wouldnt touch a cheap non brand turbo with a barge pole, wouldnt last five minutes
that kit doesnt include a manifold either!making your own turbo kit up is the wayforards,
and part of the fun for me, wether it be 1.6 or 1.8 8)

Do you know what gets on my tits when you tell people about possibly turboing a car? When they say "why not just get a better car?" Where would we be without people uprating their engines?

@6c250d6d2a=nightstalker: Do you know what gets on my tits when you tell people about possibly turboing a car? When they say "why not just get a better car?" I find most of the retarded comments like that come from people who know nothing about cars/think a car can only be good if it's less than a few years old….and there's plenty of those around!

So has anybody here actually pulled this conversion off successfully? I'd love to try but it seems a much bigger job than i originally expected.

great. i would like a full log of everything you do and everything that goes wrong when you're done pretty please with sugar on top.

-

it will all be in my project thread mate,
then i'll do a write up.
hopefully nothing goes wrong after it,lol
Im keeping it mega simple and basic to begin with
so it wont be too hard to trace if there is a problem :)

In america you can buy off the shelf turbo kits for the V6 + 1.6 all complete ready to assemble

-

but please dont any one waste there money on them :P
most of them dont include management/manifold, and they are cheap turbos!
you want a good brand named turbo liked Garrett, IHI or Holset.

cheers, a shopping list would be great too.

-

 whats your budget then?

-

As cheep as poss. Am skint. Looks like around £400 would be the least possible amount. That about right?

-

Not really , you need to double that atleast. Second hand turbo and manifold > 150
 Uprated clutch > 200
 AEM fuel/ignition management > 300
Plug and play wiring harness > 120
 Injectors > 30
 Intercooler & boost pipes > 50 - 100
Wideband lambda > 120Then on top of that add in a mapping session.

-

The budget kit from america starts at £700

-

And that dont even include the manifold/exhaust downpipe or management!
