me think a sticky in engine section with whats quoted and cars they come out of so newbs like my self know exactly what every ones talking about.just needs the car they come out of or shall i say originally belong too.1.8 BPD-T BP-T and 2.5 KLZE sounds like what im after,what cars they come out of???
4cyl pumpin more bhp the v6 lol, youd never think that would you.
im not going to ask technical stuff like which ones can be turbod up and stuff as now i have a idea of whats what i will find the threads and understand better,just need to know the cars now please.

very basically then:
2.5 KLZE (200bhp ish) - goes straight in, same loom, diff ecu
2.5 KLDE (165bhp ish) - as above
1.8 BP (132bhp) - some mods
1.6 B6-T (147bhp) - some mods, new loom, new or modded ecu
1.8 BP-T (179bhp) - as above
1.8 BPD-T (206bhp) - as above
thats pretty much it. there a few other options but they require a lot of modification and £££'s
there is also info in the How-To section on the V6 swap

i think thats the engine im after but i really am a manual person.sorry if this thread sounds stupid to some people nut i am new to the mazda and swapping world and very interested as for the price of a few parts i could buy a mot failed mx6 and just swap engine.
all im after is names of the cars with the name of the engines thats all,nothing to complicated.tell me names of cars and il know exactly what your on about but engine names a havnt a clue.
we all start some where right?

Good luck blowing your K8 up i didn't manage and i kicked the s**t out of it on the track and road… for fair few miles. God that lumps strong..
Wish i could say the same about the 3rd gear :P

lol,i aint going to deliberatly do it,jus give it a bit more then i usually do knowing im safe for another engne.
hows your 2.5 copped mechanic?
is it easy to work on like changin cam belt and oil and air filters?

The powers just right, enough for a fwd anyway… Been in talks with a fabrication company about making me a rear craddle for mine.
Hoping to get another KLZE and drop it in the boot..
5 Litre, 8 cams, 48 Valves, AWD 420 Bhp . . yum yum..
Just gotta sell some other projects first.. Then it's out with the grinder..
As for working on, yeah they are ok.. plenty of room and fairly well designed..

been looking at the turbo mods and i think its a bit pricey for me 1-2k,i was thinking there was may be a mazda that was standard a turbo that i could just pull the engine out and fit but not by the sounds of it.
200bhp with the klze will suite me down to the ground.
mechanic lol,i know some one thats got a mini with rotary engine in that wants to put a rotary in the boot as well lol.
will be mean.i cant beleive the k8 standard v6 only pull 130 bhp,thats low for a v6,can get 150 bhp out of vauxhall DOHC 2.0 16valves standard.
when i sort body out and have spare cash im just going to mooch for a smashed or mot failed probe or mx6.
if i get a hole mx6 "ive seen them the chapest", do i need to change the gear box and ecu?
im thinking of just pulling the lot out of mine and putting all the other in to save messing about and keep money and time to a minimum.

yea was just reading about a bloke in usa who does chips for $45 think it was jonos post on engine swaps.
will have a look for chang.
so why does it need chipping if engine runs ok in the mx6 with out chipping?
im on about buying a mx6 with every thing and swapping the hole engine,gear box and ecu in to mine "well thats the plan" but need to understand a little more..

o if your useing the mx6 ecu then its fine i ment if you use the k8 ecu one in the car then that needs chiping

lol,i just thought that and posted on other thread.
yeah i get you now,if i use my standard k8 ecu it will need chipping.
i want to do what youve done with the xedos mate,infact exactly what youve done.

well being a Xedos 9 with the full millenia 2.5 its best to use the k8 chiped coz of the veris valves in the inlet there 3 difrent inlets short neck long neck ans the millenia curv neck
i think the long neck goes with a kl31 ecu
and the short with a kl01 ecu
but the curv neck it more like the k8 inlet so use the k8 chiped ecu

im just going to what evers cheapest with least miles and most serviced when i do,what chip are you going for?

Just make sure you get a KLZE (from Japan only) not the KLDE that came in the MX-6 or Probe over here.
Bare Minimum
- Engine will set you back £450 inc delivery from Nippon Spares
- Probinator Chip for ECU £25 (if running curved neck manifold)
- KL31 or KL36 ECU £50 - £100 (if running straight neck manifold)
I would get these done while you have the engine out
- Cam Belt
- Standard Clutch Kit £130 Performance Clutch £200+
Upgrades that compliment the engine swap

Then you have to service it
- Oil filter £3
- Fully Synthetic 5W 30 Oil £10 - £15
- Gearbox oil £20
- Fuel filter £2.5
- Power steering Fluid £10 - £15
Then there is labour costs if your not doing it yourself
- Your looking at £250 - £500 to get a small garage to do the swap for you
I would then…
- look at upgrading your brake pads to EBC greenstuff £55 or something like a Mintex 1144 £65

Does your 1.8 gearbox not screem with the 2.5 bolted on? It will only do 135mph in 5th a 7000rpm..
