How do i check the gear oil level??

got a 1.6 and have a rattle could be in the box i want to check the oil level but dont no how i removed a bolt from the front of it but it seems to be a blind hole or has a valve or somthing?
help!

theres a bolt on the gear box, quite a heavfty fucker to, take that out and put some more oil in till it start coming out then your full.
could be clutch..our clutch started making rattles then it went to wines and then into 2 bits,
try oil mate.

i spoke to a mechanic today, he said to try the oil but when i was driving home from work i played with it a little and found that it rattled when i let the clutch up in gear but not in neutral. i dont know if that rules out a clutch problem???

i cant get it to do it unless im driving, i might try with the vid cam tomoro. i tried the oil but dont think any went in, the hole was too small for the pipe on the bottle, it tried cutting it but then it just pissed out every where.

you can use the online shop manual (I think it's the same for RHD mx-3's since the engine is the same)
it shows how to check the transmission fluid…

i got some help with it today and found that the noise is only inside the cab, im thinking gear lever linkage? as it seems to be coming from the transmission tunnel and started to rattle going over speed bumps.
does this sound right???

have you put a middle section exhaust on not so long ago. as i just put one on and a hanger touches the underside of gear tunnel when over bumps etc.

The bushings in your shifter linkage is probably worn out.

thats what i thought, untill i put it up on a ramp at work this evening and found that my cat is rusted to fcuk along with the downpipe, any way the shield on the cat was lose so i clamped it though it still rattled on the way home.
the mechanic said there was nothing unusual with the shifter linkage, although i thought i spotted a bit of play? so im stumped. where i thought the play was, there was a bolt it seemed to be at the end of the bar on the passenger side in what looks to be a galvanized/allu casing? (probly doesnt mean anything to anyone)
im thinking of geting the probe 2.0 manifold downpipe and a new cat all in stailnles the manifold is availible from ebay for £125 and the cat is online somewhere for £59 + VAT and shipping.

mine whines…but only in 5th and it seems to come through the gear linkage/stick, any ideas?? :?

Where is this nut? No doubt I'd find it, but if anyone could point out exactly where it is, my day would be a little easier!
