is yours deffinatly an OBD2 wirein loom?
-
as far as i know yeah. its got an airbag which i believe makes it a 2 rather than a 1. how else could i find out?
-
Mine is a 96 model, and I'm currently getting a DE stage 2 race spec put in…
join www.teameunos.com and look up me as a member. I'll put you on the right track.

Just because its 95/96 doesnt make it a obd2 marco has a late 96 and its obd1
-
Mine are late 95, but yea do NOT use the registration date as a reference for OBD. My cars are both 93 model IIRC. That's 2 years earlier than the year of registration. I was told I couldn't swap because it was 95
Check the HOW TO for the absolute way of checking, just pop off the RHS passenger footwell panel and look:

sorry marco i was writing at the same time as u. ill have a look at that link now. sorry it takes so long but im using my mobile ha
-
no problem :P
-
cool i will check that once the snow clears a bit. so if tha chip pictured has a 1685 or something like that its a no and it has to have 3 yellow connectors rather than 4. if it is an obd1 but starts with 16 i am guessing i just replace the ecu as well
-
The important section is: @8520519fba:
What OBD do I have?
Whether it can be chipped or not is less important at this stage, as you could easily swap ecus. Really just count the plugs- you want to see 3 for OBDI. Also my ecu had grey connectors, but still OBDI.
-
hi i jut had a quick look though it is getting dark and i saw 3 yellow connectors just under the plastic cover. if it was 4 would it be in the same place or somewhere else. i got my fingers crossed now lol.
-
air bag doesnt mean thing either, mine was airbag fitted and 95 reg like marcos and was obd1.
Dont know if this is right or not but heard there wasnt any obd2 mx6 or probe as they were discontinued earlier than the mx-3?. Could just be mis-informed tho.
-
well as far as i know now it is an obd1 and not an obd2. i will have a better look tomorrow as i left the plastic cover off so i can have a proper look in daylight. i really hope i saw right :-)
-
I thought the easiest way to find out if obd1 or obd2 was to look at the number of plug connectors to the ECU 3 = obd1 - 4 = obd2, is that not right??
-
yeah that is right. mine has 3 from what i could see but it was dark. if there is 4 are they in the same block of connectors? i just wanna make sure i got it right before i start jumping around the room lol.
