Megasquirt is very popular with our cars, cheap, DIY orientated and it can run as a standalone and you can now get kits with the OEM plugs on it. You can do fuel and timing maps with MS. It also has programmable outputs for VRIS, shift light nitrous etc.
I'm picking mine up today after it was away for repair as the chip was defective. So I'll keep you updated as to how that goes.
There's also Autronic, Electromotive, Haltech, Motec, AEM etc to consider.
Megasquirt tends to get 10-15WHP extra over chip or kl31/36 ECUs. I'm sure the other EMS brands are capable of the same.

nice one, lots to think about there. Yes marcus please keep us updated. :)

I would be inclined to say: find a good mapper first and see what ECU they recommend.
I have seen alot of people over on the 205 forum struggle with MS to be honest as it will be a steep learning curve if you've never touched on anything like it before!

Any recommendations on good mappers or places to find one?
Also how goes the MegaSquirt marcus?
