DILLIGAF?: Project Ratty

@0c0ec1bcd9=djmarcopolo:
You will laugh, someone made it as a joke and bottled it, it was going to go on the shed at work as everyone in their yacht that went past coul;d see it, but I have had it for a year, its not that offensive and doesnt contain swear words
Lol, now I'm intrigued. Can't wait to see it :D
So, long overdue, I decided to get my hands dirty and sort out the rocker gasket and have a check over the internals (quickly) too see if there was anything wrong. It all looks fine to me (just a little dirty but that's all- will have to do a full service at some point).
And a quick check of the cam belt (I hope this is it?)
And fitting the new gasket
And here's the old one, looking a bit grimy, with some build up and not looking too flexible anymore.
Also had a good look at the sump, yes, this is well and truly messed up (Lori, you will be receiving PM soon bud  ).
Get these little things out of the way, clean up the engine bay a bit more and I think it'll be looking good (well, in a running kind of way  ).

Ghetto Cheque mirrors! Found some house paint, lovely red. Had to go on really. Waiting for it to dry and will sort the little bits out

So, tonight has been interesting. A few drinks and a bonfire and I got a little loose on the car.
Yes…....Now, I found myself some flammable liquid and a lighter...... What could REALLY go wrong?
Hehehe.
After some fire a much needed beer
And some vids of the ghetto/pikey install in action
Worst thing is, now my car smells like fire and Brut….....

LMFAO
This is more like a mid life crisis in photos now, loving the flames though

 It's fun and I love it. If it was MLC I wouldn't be torching the car, I'm sure I'd be licking it or making it look good lol.

Well, I had spoken to DJ recently to keep my plans secret. I was going to go full on balls out on the car and the next update was going to be picturely amazing. I was going to go for a full strip down and get the car done in satin white which I had started
But I am too far gone with the car, I am no longer "feeling it's potential". I think the idea was good but I do not have the time, patience or let alone the money to keep this car going/alive any longer. My heart is sinking as I write this, but it really is time to think straight. Bert has taken over my life for the past year and as I have said, I would have loved to have turned around in a couple of months and made you all go "WTF!!! WOW!!!!!" but, the reality is, money is going to be tight as f**k for me soon (knee operations and time off work really aren't helping).
I really do hate this but unless I win the lottery on Saturday, Bert will be getting scrapped in June (if he makes it  ) and I'll be on my bike (or in reality- the bus).
I am truly gutted to have to do this as it means I will no longer have my OWN car anymore (I will still have the missus' Pug to dabble with-hence the sig change) .
Again, I'd love to save the car(like I was going to do secretly) but the reality of money has made me make sense.
And again, I am truly gutted

Changes again. Having bad knees, it is not a good idea for me to be jumping on to my bike, so I'm looking into keeping the car running for as best as I can.
It went down a storm (well, kind of) at the latest Jap meet. I'd had this idea in my head all day so I just went for it.
There will be a stencil skull going on the door when I make one 8)

Funny you should put that particular picture up DJ as he is my car's new mascot. He's been sat in my house waiting for stardom again and here he is sat in my passenger seat

Well, boy am I a little relieved. I took the car down to the garage today to let them check to see how bad the sump is to replace (check all the bolts were still, bolts and where the exhaust came into play, etc). They told me it would be easy to fix and I asked a few other things to be checked over. I'd been rather quick one day in jacking the car up and put it in the wrong place and inevitably put the jack through my sill (instant fail on MOT), again easy to fix, couple of hours cutting and welding and should be fine. Exhaust needs re welding after an incident with a high kerb, but a 5 min job. I should think it'll cost under £200 to keep it on the road (they also said the water pump is leaking and they'll try to find out where and sort that too).
So people, VIVE LE RAT!
This project will keep getting better (well that's a loose term of the word  ) and I'm getting a price soon for the pickup conversion! FTW!!!!!
-
Yay! :D Great to see the rat shall live because it's one of the reasons I keep looking on here!!
The water pump should be replaced every 60k miles with the t.belt & tensioner anyway so it might be an idea just to get them all done? The kit inc. water pump is pretty cheap, my dad just bought one for my old car and I think it was around £100.

Thanks to Lori the future should be less leaky  Cheers bud saved me having to cut off one of my good limbs there

Like a Phoenix from the flames!

Knowing I can't rely on my bike has made me work harder on getting things right. The missus has decided she doesn't want a company car as the offer of mo' money makes more sense (and I agree, if we want a new car we can save with her pay rise) and the attention I've been getting through doing this to Bert has been spectacular, it's thrown up a whole load of interesting ideas (obviously the pickup idea is the biggest but there's other things ticking that aren't bank balance worrying).
I think not giving a crap is definitely the way forward for me, when I want things to be smooth and clean and pristine I just get angry with the world. I haven't tried to kill anyone recently…......... which is nice. Driving is an laugh again and not just a routine (now I just need to get the leaks sorted the welding done and my knees fixed and all will be cushty).
