Cheers Mister Eggs. I love the lip (just needs a little perfecting paintwise) and I wish I'd kept the bonnet gloss now :(
Lowering is a project in the process with Mr. Venari ;)
-
when you do the lowering can you put up a how to? just bought springs but not a clu as usual how to do it
-
Will do. Changing springs if fairly simple, though, it just requires care, and the right tools. If you havn't got a set of spring compressors… you need some.
The rest of the procedure is in the workshop manual.
Start with the front... Jack car up, remove roadwheel.
Unclip brake hose / ABS wires from strut.
Remove strutbrace in engine bay by removing three nuts each side on strut top.
Undo two clamp bolts at base of strut. Remove bolts.
Undo four nuts retaining strut.
Insert sturdy screw driver betwen strut and knuckle and lever strut away. Swear as strut drops out neatly onto driveshaft gaiter. Make note to protect gaiter on other side.
Remove strut.
Clamp strut in vice as shown in manual, slacken off top nut a few turns. This may, or may not be difficult.
Fit spring compressors to spring and tighten until spring can 'rattle' between lower cup and topmount.
Remove top nut.
Remove topmount, bearing and upper spring perch.
Very carefully remove spring and go outside, well away from any glass windows or precious goods. Children/wives/Mormons/encyclopaedia salesmen should be locked in the dungeon while you are doing this.
Slowly wind off spring compressors a little at a time, swapping sides often, until spring is fully open and compressors fall off.
Attach spring compressors to new springs in similar locations, and wind spring down very slowly in the same way.
Fitting is reverse of removal. Repeat for other side.
Rears are exactly the same except there are two nuts instead of four on the turret top in the boot, and they're under a bit of trim. You will need to set your geometry afterwards, toe will more than likely be out front and rear. You'll probably get away with driving it to your local decent alignment shop, it won't be bad to drive, but it will chew tyres if left as-is. Else, you'd be surprised how well alignment can be done at home if you spend a bit of time studying the internets and have a long metal bar or two, some string and a metal measuring tape.

that lip looks epic whats it called?

It's my custom V6 Cupra splitter
Nah, it's just the standard lip from a V6 deepened with a Seat Leon Cupra R Splitter available from most VAG dealerships for about £23 or on ebay for about £30+postage (go to the dealership, then you don't get ripped).
-
Awsome man i think that looks that nuts, Ive done that cupra splitter thing before i kinds noticed it here but it looks so flush!
Done it with a 323f ZXi front lip :P

I've sanded it down, primed it and made it a little smoother (could do with a bit more). The only thing is, I'd cut it to the size of the bumper before I got the V6 lip so the Cupra splitter is a little short, I might need to get another one and use this one on the rear

Well I think it looks great bud maybe with the silver/black but it stands out awsome, would u mind me copying your idea? I know some things like this is frowned upon but its imspired me to get this :P

I think Jay's also on about doing it, I have no problems with people taking inspiration 8)

Here's a nice "marmite mod". The good old bonnet lift. I went out and bought a pack of washers and first off tried 3:
But I felt this didn't look right so bumped it up to 5:
I know it's fashion thing and some people say "why make it look like you have badly fitting panels?" but I've seen a few cars recently with it done and I think it looks good, simple and effective (and it can't hurt to get more cool air into the engine hey?).
Now, I'm just waiting for my pension from Tesco to come through and I will be buying some lowering springs and dropping it -40mm :D
-
cool mod i was tinking of doing the same.
you can now get propper lifting spaces in any colour but not sure were from but i saw them at jap show at santa pod this year ill get some next time i see themi do agree there are more and more every time i go to santa pod
it always seems the me and you have the same ideas but you all ways beat me to it and do it first lol he he :D

@f1390dc0e7=Lori:
just get some spacers from Pro-bolt
www.tastynuts.com IIRC.
Looking good bud :)
Don't really see the point. You can't see the spacers, maybe coloured bolts but if the are anodised they won't be as strong as the standard bolt.
-
very good points :)

Looking good bud :)
It would look a lot better if my bonnet hadn't taken a battering when they delivered it, I had to unfold the pointed bits that sit near the corner of the wind screen, hence why they are wibbly and bent down a little bit, but hey, better than the rat style bonnet I had originally

I feel your pain! I lost 2 metals bonnets to the sheer incompetence of those delivery bastards. Also they managed to cave in the corner of my carbon fiber bonnet, despite it having made it untouched from america in the same packaging. Never sign without checking the product's condition…
If anyones posting a bonnet, bolt wooden battons to the bonnet attachment bolt holes. Have these extend past the pointed tips and they should survive...
