Sam's Proper MX-3 - LT Turbo project *Parting out*
-
Ar nice one cheers Jay. I better redo the whole cluster then as I bet a few of the needles are in wrong position now also> I did paint them fuscia pink with the wifes nail varnish though, it looks proper mental yo :D
-
Sorry for late reply but jay is right. The mph and rev ones are easy. The fuel and temp are bit fragile. I undone brass screws on back of cluster motors the dials could both be installed pointing up. Then reset. We need a how 2 on this sort of thing as it always crops up
-
Yep Im with you now. Its funny though the gauges where the pointer came off but the needle stayed in work ok, its just the rev counter if you have a spare intact? that would be well handy :) I got to take it out again anyways as one of the alu rings was a really loose fit and is now rattling around alot!
Some better pics from today though.

Hmm they are the colour I want to match my engine
-

Sorry Keith didn't see your reply there! These dials are a real limey Green your engine colour is a bit darker is'nt it?! you can still get them I dont mind :)
Its a shame Speedhut don't do a reverse glow with green lettering as that would of been nicer and a bit more subtle

Ok so here's what I'm working on next. Putting a skid plate onto this the 323 sump to be able to go a bit lower and not have to worry about busting the pan, added bonus being this sump is baffled and has the return for the turbo oil feed, anyone know what the other union on the other side of the sump is for?
-
Took the pan into work this morning to cleaned it all up with paraffin
and the airline, pretty nice inside considering when I picked it up it been outside!
So this is the proposed guard mocked in cardboard and I will start the real thing next week
at work made from 2mm stainless steel or Titanium if I can get hold of some…. shooting white sparks anyone?!
Plan is to tack weld 4 nuts to the sump then attach the guard using M10 x 10 bolts as I dont trust our polish welder not to put holes through as he just loves using to much heat!

You seem to do a lot of your own work at work lol.
Or do you own the company :)
-
Yarp I have a bad rep. for doing lots of "homework"
always in my own time (lunchbreak) of course :wink:No dont own it, but the Boss is pretty cool and a big petrolhead himself so he dont mind too much if you want to make stuff. I think the company started after the boss started making hotrod parts in his owntime, we do alot of work for Weber (trumpets) and janspeed (exhaust cones etc) so alot of it is geared towards motors aswell as aeropsace.

Fate dealt me an unlucky blow today, well actually it was the wind that blew the old bath tub over…
Fuck it I hope the bodyshop can ping this out...
-
Oh dear :( Ya might get lucky with that though, doesn't look like any paint damage.
-
Only a slight chip just above the tyre writing thankfully! Having to put on a new wing and get it rolled and flared again would be a right pisser, so fingers crossed..
