Sam's Proper MX-3 - LT Turbo project *Parting out*

  • Test fitted up the 9Jx16 Brocks with 215/40/ tires and an offset of +15.
Probably going to need camber different size tyres as I reckon they might rub a little!

All in all pretty happy, tires need to come of so I can rub wheels down, treat one wheel for curb rash on the turning lathe
then engine enamel them Gold with black centre caps.

And scored a great bit of kit for the Turbo, this Bailey twin piston DV26 'Evo' dump valve.

  • Wash your car, its farking filthy!

  • She a filthy bitch right now Dawg. :bigok:

  • I have to admit, I dislike the car being that low, however it doesn't stop it looking fucking sweet with them rims.

    Nice work bud, stunning.

  • Thats fair enough Bro it isn't for everyone, just being this wide it needs the lowz to make it flowz :D Thanks though, got to work on some camber now so those tyres don't rub too much.

  • it is looking rather horny with those rims on, i know they will rub but that is a good look you got going on there

  • Cheers Dan, yeah I'm almost sold on that size tyre, they are pricey though
so I'm looking around for some part worn pirellis or goodyears right now.

Little bit of negative camber and 10mm more lowering on the coilovers as the 16's has raised her up and she should be golden :D

  • 3SGE 315cc Toyota MR2 pink top injectors bought. Part no. 23250-74080.
Will want them to go for an ultrasonic clean before installing though. They are plug & play on the Miata, so here's hoping!

  • Been a bit slow on the car work front, been concentrating on more flat renovations in time for the big family chrimbo day! And a little invention
that we are looking into getting patented say I cant say too much yet…

Wheels are now sitting in the kitchen on a brand new tiled floor. Tires are off and the strip back has started ready for paint 8) Bought new locating spigot rings for them too (70.1>54.1)

Finally decided on the Turbo exhaust pipe flange, after looking at many options I think this is the best one. From Himni racing coming soon.

3" Oval holed stainless flange, coupled with 3" oval to round transition pipe
which will then need a 3" > 2.5" cone made to get to the downpipe which is going to need some tight radius 90 degree bends buying.

That will give a really nice collector space for all the gases to disapear down :D

  • @d3b6e37cc1=youdirtyfox:

And a little invention that we are looking into getting patented say I cant say too much yet.

Expect to see you on on dragons den soon??!!

  • Well we have a working prototype and now own the .com and .co.uk domain name for it, but I have no idea what our 4th year projections are going to be!
All shall be revealed once we have some sort of protection on it, weather it be just trademarked and design registered or a full blown patent if that's even viable I don't know
I reckon Peter Jones would be all over us though 8)

  • Oh you tease!!

  • Gave Her that one winter clean up finally Gulfy ;) nice & clean now so went out and took some pictures last weekend that I had spotted the oppurtunity for a while back, glad I did for the deluge hit this weekend!

  • Like the first picture

  • Yeah that seems to be everyone's favourite photo so far :D

On a side note our invention is looking less likely to be able to be granted a patent so we are just going to run with it ourselves as quickly as possible to flood the market. Will be finishing off the two working prototypes we have and getting the video footage of what we have been up to and what our "Gizmoov" can do out there sooner rather than later!

  • Gold metallic enamel paint on order for the wheels to be painted in, got to sort out my mums garage first so there is some space to spray in.
Got these MS centre caps bought aswell.

Started looking at new tyres> Kumho ecstas seem to have rave reviews for the price as Eagle F1's are £100 each in 215/40/16 size.
Got to dial in some negative camber too by way of slotting the hubs also before I fit the new wheels up.

  • Wheel refurb. started as I'm back at work I could use the turning lathe to
sort out one of the edges. Could of done with some weld filler, but our welder
might have gone back to Poland for good! So I just mad do with emery cloth.

Next stage was to remove all the wheel weight and associated goop with a wire brush drill attachment.

Then onto a 80 grit flap wheel to remove old debris and brake dust.

Then a final going over with a scotchbrite wheel to remove the shine from paint
and a good wash out with hot soapy water, then flushed with plain water from the hose.

    Next step Paint!

  • Well my Gold paint has been lost in transit via Hermes (not surprising!) currently waiting on a refund, so while I was bored and on ebay purchased a pair of RX-7 side repeaters to see how much of an issue they would be to fit.
Think they are a lot more sleeker than standard ones, and less obvious than
the universal oval ones. Have Photoshoped crystal clear ones on there and they just stuck out like a sore thumb on a red car, so gone with the amber.

Test fit , they going to need a bigger hole making in the wing, I found an MX-6 in the breakers yesterday so traced the hole needed and also took the plugs for the repeaters.

  • Here is a little more teasing of what our new venture involves, although not just limted to cars as this was filmed this afternoon with a Gopro hero 2 camera and animated as a .gif in photoshop. Do wish I could show you the 'real' footage, but we got to keep it a secret for a while longer I'm afraid.

  • Haha, cool! What ya make of the GoPro? Been thinking about buying one of the new ones.
