Sam's Proper MX-3 - LT Turbo project *Parting out*

  • drool

  • Wheels will look nice sam, are they wider than previous ones?

  • Cheers chaps, yes they are wider at 9j so will stick out another 12mm, would love to push them further out with 5mm spacers and run more stretch and camber !

  • I'll be honest, these stretched tyres aren't my cup of tea. I like a nice square side wall look myself.

However, the gold look with red…. I never thought of that, looks good huh?

    ;-)

  • Yea its defo not for everyone, I don't like too much tyre stretch myself.
Want just enough to run wider wheels and fill those mahoosive MX-3 arches!

Yes I Think red & gold looks pretty classy, there is a danger it might look too 70's though. Had photochopped white as well but that just looked too rally slag

  • new wheels will look the shizzney !!. get that turbo going its been too long in the making

  • You will get that when I'm bodging from a blank canvas AND a massive wheel whore!

  • 9J?? hope you have no issues with those, they seem extreeeemely wide. however once you get that turbo in and running at least you will have some power to pull all that rubber around :respect:

  • Sam those will look great! I am interested to see what they will look like on the car. I am looking at getting 9J's here this next spring. Are you going to run the same offsets all the way around, or different offsets in front and rear?

from looking around I think the 9J will fit with a +26 but I really need to go to a shop and have them measured so I get them perfect.

  • Haha cheers Dan yes the tubby will help drag along a 9J one piece wheel! yes there might be a few issues though but I think that's part of the fitment game!

Me too Josh, that's if they ever get here >3rd time lucky being picked up tomorrow with a courier via trusted interparcel.

All four wheels have the same offset of +15.

  • Test fitted up the 9Jx16 Brocks with 215/40/ tires and an offset of +15.
Probably going to need camber different size tyres as I reckon they might rub a little!

All in all pretty happy, tires need to come of so I can rub wheels down, treat one wheel for curb rash on the turning lathe
then engine enamel them Gold with black centre caps.

And scored a great bit of kit for the Turbo, this Bailey twin piston DV26 'Evo' dump valve.

  • Wash your car, its farking filthy!

  • She a filthy bitch right now Dawg. :bigok:

  • I have to admit, I dislike the car being that low, however it doesn't stop it looking fucking sweet with them rims.

    Nice work bud, stunning.

  • Thats fair enough Bro it isn't for everyone, just being this wide it needs the lowz to make it flowz :D Thanks though, got to work on some camber now so those tyres don't rub too much.

  • it is looking rather horny with those rims on, i know they will rub but that is a good look you got going on there

  • Cheers Dan, yeah I'm almost sold on that size tyre, they are pricey though
so I'm looking around for some part worn pirellis or goodyears right now.

Little bit of negative camber and 10mm more lowering on the coilovers as the 16's has raised her up and she should be golden :D

  • 3SGE 315cc Toyota MR2 pink top injectors bought. Part no. 23250-74080.
Will want them to go for an ultrasonic clean before installing though. They are plug & play on the Miata, so here's hoping!

  • Been a bit slow on the car work front, been concentrating on more flat renovations in time for the big family chrimbo day! And a little invention
that we are looking into getting patented say I cant say too much yet…

Wheels are now sitting in the kitchen on a brand new tiled floor. Tires are off and the strip back has started ready for paint 8) Bought new locating spigot rings for them too (70.1>54.1)

Finally decided on the Turbo exhaust pipe flange, after looking at many options I think this is the best one. From Himni racing coming soon.

3" Oval holed stainless flange, coupled with 3" oval to round transition pipe
which will then need a 3" > 2.5" cone made to get to the downpipe which is going to need some tight radius 90 degree bends buying.

That will give a really nice collector space for all the gases to disapear down :D

And a little invention that we are looking into getting patented say I cant say too much yet.

Expect to see you on on dragons den soon??!!
