Sam's Proper MX-3 - LT Turbo project *Parting out*
-
hmm I havent seen that stuff before. Looks like a sewer line for an RV :)
I think if it is cheap enough it worth a go. those ribs should help cut down on sound a bit too I would think.
-
Haha yes reminds me of vacuum cleaner hose, its £25 per mtr in 2.25" certainly cheaper than a whole bunch or elbows.
Youre right designed to absorb sound and vibration.

Had this poly. Civic rear lip in my Garage for a couple of years now and never really tried to fit it properly, but today as part
of the exhaust backbox upgrade I thought I would try again and it turned out Ok, needs a bit of tweaking as it looks a bit wonky bit of persuasion needed with the hairdryer sure will be ok.
but I'm well happy with it, needs some proper flush fixings but it now means I can try for a diffuser and maybe oval tailpipes each side like bit like the miata.
-
Thats a very nice fit
If you want exhausts / rear box I maybe having a sell off soon
-
Sweet! Love that lip man.
-
Snug as a Bug keith! Its cool mate I got a few custom ideas to follow up on.
Cheers Jay, thinking now it might be of the front of a 96-98 Civic but it was so
long ago I bought it now I'm not quite sure :?

I knew it all along was just trying to put you all off the scent :imout: ;)

So the backbox idea upgrade has escalated as things usually do,lol into trying to fit a crossflow silencer now to the rear!
So it would look a little something like this: 1 In / 2 out cardboard mock up.
Only thing holding it back is if there is enough room behind the bumper to squeeze an oval box in?!
Raining right now so I cant get out there and rip the bumper off an take out the reinforcement bar to see, if it does fit though we could be looking at dual side exit pipes!!!! TVR Sagaris style :shock:EDIT > Took the bumper off this morning and made some space and it would seem that its going to fit, also straightened up the rear lip which fits even better now.
-
Mid section split open yesterday just where it joins the silencer (not scraped just original so wear and tear) so new one bought today, very tempted to cut & weld a new straight section in there where the silencer is! Bbbrbrbrbrwwwarp…..
-
I think to get it lower you should remove all the exhaust and custom make one using an mx5 crossflow manifold and chuck it out through the inner and outer wing :bigok:
-
That's too extreme, even for me Keith :bigok: Wouldn't mind doing that to a street rod though  with the obligatory flamer kit
-
New exhaust mid section fitted today, the back box studs snapped so those where ground off, drilled out and replaced! While I was there I completely waxoiled the underside of the car ready for winter, also noticed my sump guard had pierced through a little bit, so that's off right now to have an extra plate or two welded on. Was good getting under there to check out the whole system for when I want to go custom 2.25" I know have a spare mid section to copy along with the flanges to make a decat pipe. I'm still planning on fitting the transverse silencer to the rear, but that might have to wait till next year as its getting a bit chilly to be messing around with 'zorsts!
-
Car now back on the road, smoother than ever with the new mid section!
3.5mm stainless steel plate welded onto the original sump guard, scrapes even more now though but its doing its job!Transverse muffler will still go ahead but next year sometime as Ive just found a 4" oval one which should give it a bit more clearence.
Just purchased a second hand set of rather rare 9Jx16 Brock B1 wheels to see
if they will give me the type of fitment I'm after, There coming with slightly stretched 215/45 tyres got a feeling though Im going to need 205/45's instead, but we shall see when they arrive hopefully next week.
-
Wheels not here yet as there was a slight misunderstanding with the couriers, should be all set now to collect them this monday. Here's a sneak preview of what I'm planing on doing with them, will be spraying them light metallic Gold with engine enamel and black centre caps with some sort of logo.
Pushing things forward with the turbo parts aswell, Drilled the turbo mounting to accept bigger studs, ordered an adjustable wastegate actuator bracket from Oz as I found one with cheaper postage, as opposed to the $60 they wanted before! So it was hardly worth the effort of making one.
Having a real tough time clocking the turbo once again so the oil drain is facing straight down and the oil feed clears the manifold mount, going to have to soak it plus gas, take it work and heat and beat with a rubber mallet. Once that's done will order pocketed outlet flange and starting more work on the downpipe.

Wheels will look nice sam, are they wider than previous ones?
-
Cheers chaps, yes they are wider at 9j so will stick out another 12mm, would love to push them further out with 5mm spacers and run more stretch and camber !
-
I'll be honest, these stretched tyres aren't my cup of tea. I like a nice square side wall look myself.
However, the gold look with red…. I never thought of that, looks good huh?
;-)
-
Yea its defo not for everyone, I don't like too much tyre stretch myself.
Want just enough to run wider wheels and fill those mahoosive MX-3 arches!Yes I Think red & gold looks pretty classy, there is a danger it might look too 70's though. Had photochopped white as well but that just looked too rally slag
