Sam's Proper MX-3 - LT Turbo project *Parting out*

  • looking good chap that should do the trick :D

  • Cheers bud Yep if it does rub through eventually though I could also weld on some titanium strips to throw some white hot sparks out :D

  • Pre Japfest clean and polish then a lovely sunny drive out in country with the '3 and the new camera.

  • bagsy not parkin next to that. It'll make mine look a bit scruffy!

    Lol!!!

  • great pics sam and of cause the 3 is looking awsome aven better in person lol

  • Cheers Fella was a nice day once we got through the traffic. I think next time we will go up the night before and stay local to beat the queue's, saying that it probably wont be till I have done something different to the car!

Not done alot in terms of work just swapped all the dials over again so I finally have a working rev counter and accurate fuel & coolant guage, which showed up not to be working as She boiled over in the traffic 'o japfest. My fan never kicked in either so I got to wire up a manual switch to the dash just to be on the safe side.

have been outing shooting some more pics though, getting used to the camera more and using post production in photoshop aswell as the rusty recommended free trial HDR photomatix.

Also tried to capture a 360 degree panoramic interior shot through the sunroof, needs more work though something like a motorised mount would do it

I'm off out tonight to try some 'light painting' with the car and a 75 LED work lamp, will edit the pictures in later if it works…

  • Just looking back through this thread. That bumper really is a thing of beauty, Sam.

  • Looking good mate, dang, if we weren't so far away we could get together for a stance off :respect:

What tyre size you running? I'm on 195/50/15 I want to go down to 40's to get lower but the ride is nice (50's just rub like hell on the arches).

  • Should of come out the factory like that eh Jayom :imout:

Rusty a twin shoot would be really cool shame though, we could try it in a virtual world?!

Im running 195/45/15 on an 8J which I think dropped the car down around 9mm as opposed to the 50's I was running before> means you get a "little' bit more stretch so it didn't rub on the back no more. The ride is actually better as I went upto a premium brand.

195/40/15 is an odd size Bro blackcircles dont even list 'em!

  • that last photo i fantastic would love to now thats done
    great work

  • very nice pics! and your front bumper, i like it but i would had smoothen out the foglight gaps if you know wat i mean

  • Jay its called light painting a technique using a very long camera exposure in pitch black dark as you can get and me dressing up all in black (like a Ninja) and walking round the car with an LED light painting the car with light.
Im going out to try it again sometime out in the country in absolute pitch black
(on ambient light like street lights) as it should look at little more like this one I did earlier in the kitchen!

Fidoo_nl thanks! but I would like to see you try that with the bumper :P

  • lol not a 30sec job then lol

  • lol no it takes a bit of setting up plus lots of coffee.
The other two I did the same night.

  • got to learn how to do that do you need a special camera

  • You need one that has some kind of manual mode or one where you can adjust the shutter speed to be open for about 15-30 secs.

  • mmmmmm ill have to have a play a see what our camera dose

  • woah. im doing that. my camera is an HS10, so I think it has manual 30 second exposure, those pics are superb.

  • Thanks man, cool have fun experimenting :D
In an aim to clean up the engine bay I done that frowned upon thing!
also mocking up a cover for the wiper motor.
Pink rocker cover to be changed to chrome powder coat along with red leads
at some point. Also want to make another washer bottle but for under the scuttle panel this time
    :bigok:

From cardboard mock up to the real thing in aluminium….
..not to sure about how good it will look, needs welding, shaping & paint.
