Sam's Proper MX-3 - LT Turbo project *Parting out*

What plans have you got interior wise Foxy? I haven't looked back to see what you've got going on in there but I think a full leather re-trim would be a nice touch with a splash of carbon panels?
-
Only thing going on so far is green dials and RX-7 FD steering wheel, have been looking at FD seats recenlty too though as there only 100 quid a pair for minters. Thinking FD velour seats maybe trimmed in red as they seem to have a carbon effect middle panel. As tbh leather seats in cars really isn't my bag baby, dont mind a bit of leather on the door cards or dash though :D or I might go back to reclining buckets but not use harnesses this time as there a right pita for DD
Should of just bought an FD :imout:

Nooooo Nooo Nooo, have a few friends with FD and FC's and they are nothing but a ball ache. Do you know on the FC the thermostat is part of the block so if it pops it's a hefty welding and expensive job, I love Rex's but I'd never have one (even if I could afford to run one!). Like the sound of the seat plans though, have you typed "stanced MX3" into google images yet :respect:
-
Also you can't judge one set of coilovers against all others.
They are not all the same, on some you can set the damp/rebound rate independantly to be as soft or hard as you like and get different springs to match the damp rate you are planning to run.
On my rally car which was on bilstein coilovers we had it setup so you could do 70mph down a bumpy farm track and you would hardly feel the bumps it felt like it was floating. The wheels would be bouncing up and down at an incredible rate but the car would hardly move. Its all about buying the right bit of kit and getting it setup properly for what you want to do.

No I didn't know that no wonder you don't see many on the roads! Well I havent that's for sure…
Yehaaw yes I have I think this is the first ever MX3 on the stance scene 8) dished and dumped works also :rimshot:
-
if its stock rex seats your looking for there is a few rex's being striped on the fd site im on ill give the a shout if the seats are for sale if you like?
-
 for the offer Jay, can't do it right now though
got 4 x new tyres to buy for the MOT next month, but these are the ones I have been thinking about fitting.
-
i saw them on ebay not a bad price either ill keep an eye out for you if you like
-
Thanks Jay I will want to seat swap soon after I get the MOT out the way
as the MKII MX-3 seats are not the most comfortablest in the world!
-
Well the sump that I was going to buy has fallen through quite literally it was too rusty for them to sell to me. I have been given a quote of £45 delivered for another one though off breakeryard . com
Camber bolts have arrived from the states, (will fit then get new tyres) as has a new fuel filter I won for £5 and a universal 4 wire lambda sensor for £16. Cars coming upto 100k so I figure its time for a new sensor which by all accounts will need splicing into the existing plug.
Im also on the look out for some windscreen sun visors in black without the airbag info. on.
New bathroom is nearing completion so I will get some spare time back soon
to start pimping again :D
-
I was gunna ask about fuel filters. Think mine could benefit from a new one. Where is it?
-
Down the back of the engine bay passenger side bulkhead.
Sump arrived and it's a V6 one :x
-
Ok sent the V6 sump back and just bit the bullet and bought a new one from fordprobestore> atleast I know its going to fit and wont be rusted!
motorfactors have ordered me in the gaskets.Unfortnately I managed to put a 10mm drill bit through my finger on the weekend so I'm out of action for two weeks or so :(
-
i done a 6mm bit through my finger!, made a nice butterfly shape out of the flesh. I never got it seen to, i kept using the germoline new skin stuff to keep it clean. It took ages to heal and ive got a nice scar now
Off topic i know but i feel your pain lol.
You still need rpm dial btw ?, sorry its sitting in kitchen ready to go!.
-
Accidents happen, lol but thats pretty hardcore garfy. It was a real school boy error not using a vice and holding a block of wood from underneath were I'm used to drilling metal I pushed too hard was just trying to oversize a hole! and the bit went straight into my wedding ring finger taking shards of wood and metal into me.. fook me did it look grizzly, I got pictures if anyone wants to see?!?!
Funny thing is it didn't hurt at the time or at A&E, throbs like a bitch now. Nice to know I'm not alone though.
erm itsa ok no rush I cant seem to find the old PCB from the 1600 clocks to swap it over…
-
That is no good… I just did a similar thing about a month ago with a hole 1.5" saw bit... was not pretty
-
Youch! I think you have trumped us on bit size there Josh. Damn hole cutters are usually quite ragged too?!
I have to go back in tomorrow to see if the skin covering the tendon is going to live, if it hasn't it will mean another more complicated op…. Oh well count myself lucky right now I still have a working finger! 10mm more to left and I reckon it would of been adios muchachos...
So the weekend before I had been looking where teh Turbo sits in relation to the sump for the oil drain and it looked as if a 90 degree union on the sump might be a good idea so the hose would not have to bend so much.
I found this at the same place I bought the straight union and this 13mm end cap from an irrigation shop to cap off the union for now with some rubber hose.

PICS OR GTFO
Jk… feel for you. That is seriously nasty. Hope it gets a full recovery mate.
-
Thanks mate Surgeon said skin is going to heal just fine its just upto me now to get it moving again so I got to do lots of fist movement :rimshot:
Here is what I was trying to construct when the accident happened so I bought these magnetic holders Monday morning to cheer my sorry ass up.
MMMMmmmmm organisational overload
-
mmm very nice! I love me a good set of well organized sockets… 8)
