Sam's Proper MX-3 - LT Turbo project *Parting out*

  • Very nice, very low 8)

  • they actually look really good off colour to the car :) nice job

  • They look white in the pics, but there more of a battleship grey in reality :)

Ok so I have cast my original concept shark fin in cardboard which I hoping to remake in aluminium. The shape is very similar to the euro mini side-skirts which I wanted to incorporate into these skirts. It also covers up that unnecessary vent and smooths in the straight edge left by the end of the skirt.

The edge 'ledge' on the skirt will be painted black/carbon wrapped so the height matches the front splitter, but I am going to speak to the body shop in the new year about painting and fitting, should look something like this though

  • win

I was hoping you'd blend in the mini skirts. They'll be quite like uber rare jdm skirts now.

  • looks banging ! u gota add some camber will look awsome !!

  • Thanks Gent :D I now know it was the right choice. How long there going to last once fitted with a bit more low is another matter! will give me somewhere to hide the neons though

Negative camber = wider wheels Jay which I got no big bucks for, but it hasn't stop me looking for some nice cheap 16 x 9's though  :D

  • imo neons are such a big fail, fast and the furious…nuff said!

  • still though, do you remember the first time you watched that film… what a rush :)

looking well nice there. loving the mock up mate. keep up the good inspirational work

  • I still think they can look pretty cool on the right car/setup. Wouldnt ever use them driving along though! I wasnt a well man when I bought them, lol its because they were cheap flexible ones I might see if I can use them in the engine bay or interior.

Thanks Dan appreciate it mate, dunno how long I am going to be able to keep up the work as I'm a bit of a girl when it becomes a bit too cold ahaha.

  • Spent a quick half hour after work grinding off the welds on the new bottle
with a 40 disc, then paraffin soaked (stops the metal picking up) emery cloth> 60 80 120 320 then finished on a mixture of scotchbrite pad and talo wax then clean clotch. Sorted out the fitent for the pump too just need to make some brackets and fit it on to the original mounts.

Once home I decided to fit up all the body bungs I received back from Gulfy so I could remove the bonnet jets, aeriel and boot jet.
Im pleased with them and will do nicely till the day it goes in for paint and can be smoothed over for real :)

  • sh*t its getting too damn cold outside to work properly
I have managed to test fit up the bottle though
looking like it will tuck in there very nicely.

Might even be able to hide the power steering one down there too if gravity allows?!

  • Oh and with the help of some measurements from a standard height MX-3 on .com I have worked out my ride height to be -90mm :D always did wonder what it actually was at now!

  • holy shit thats low ;)

  • @7b994933d7=daniel:

    holy shit thats low ;)

Bah, childs play that, I'm hitting -100+

  • Yeah on a Civic how original :P

  • @d04dfd07e7=youdirtyfox:

Yeah on a Civic how original :P

Hell, I know them arches on an mx3, they can cope with a hell of a lot more than -90 dude and to be honest, not alot of civics run that low, most people run about -80 and also, dial the rears up on yours because reverse rake is a bad thing

Apart form that, car's looking sweet man :)

  • Absolutley no reverse rake on here dude I flipped the front coilover mount around to gain more low upfront. Next spring I'll do the same to the rear and lower another 20mm or so allround.

Meh get yourself on stanceworks every civic on there is a proper frame scraper.

  • Present to myself for the car this year is these
alu chrome gauge rings. Going to wait to fit these till I have my
speedhut dials that the wife bought me for Christmas and I want
to finish it all off with a nice miata momo or nardi torino steering wheel :D

  • Ended up buying an RX7 FD3S black leather Momo steering wheel
as I wanted a nice chunky 3 spoke and the miata ones are a bit spindly
looking..supposedly its a 350mm diameter wheel so a bit smaller than stock
MX-3 ones. I do hope it fits!

Also third time lucky at the breakers I managed to remove the ECU thus giving me access to the plugs and lots of flying lead to be able to start making the loom for the AEM piggback, so spent all afternoon with the multimeter & wiring diagrams drawing up the plans for it on the dining room table of course…
There seem's to be a few differences here and there between US & UK models, but not a massive deal hopefully and its becoming quite apperent now how similar or not it is to the MX-5. The donor wiring harness also has
an annoying TIMEC immob. box that'll have to removed or work around.

  • That wheel looks great. I'm thinking about getting reverse glow gauges too, but from Moman, be interested to see how yours turn out though.
