Sam's Proper MX-3 - LT Turbo project *Parting out*

  • Will agree white FTW

  • I did pass a mint white mx3 the other day, have to say it did look pretty sweet!

  • Cant say I ever seen a white one in the flesh but I do have a thing for white Jap cars I mean miatas and RX7's look gorgeous in it!
Never seen a 1600 in white for sale though dont think they made any!

  • @32b8e570fc=mx3gulf:

Thats the trouble with red, hates the sun!! everytime you cut and polish the paint, you are taking more red off, cheaper and easier than changing colour would be to re-basecoat red and laquer….............

Yup, my eg has very little paint left on it after years of somebody trying to de pink it, that is one of the major down falls of Honda's though, the paint is extremely thin, I've seen newer models where the paint has faded so much they need a respray.

  • My shoulder's not thanking me for it neither! I think alot of jap cars suffer with it, certainly seen a pinked out celica round my way.

Anyways good to get back to work this week! I have started on the alu. windscreen washer tank should have a few pics in the next week or so once welded and polished :D

  • White is HOT! I am looking at 2 white cars one a clean 94' OE GS with all the suspension goodies and a ZE swap. the other a 93' RS but has a bunch of OE Mazdaspeed parts… Mazdaspeed or ZE i am torn... :)

White is one of the best colors IMO

  • Plus every wheel colour possible looks good …. including white

  • Bagged me some goodies from the breakers this afternoon :D
Pulley wheels to be painted & fuel rail/various brackets/accelerator pulley I would like chrome plated if not too expensive!

Robbed a V6 of its strut brace too, something else to paint a funky colour..
Although for the moment will keep it black as its really in a good state,
I forgot to take the top nuts though so will order some dome heads or something.

Also started designing a sump bash guard to be welded onto the 323
sump so I can fit that up in prep for the Turbo and knock another 10 or so mm off the ride height.

  • nice job, I looked at chrome recently - astronomical so went with powder coat and they do make a chrome powder coat which is a lot cheaper

you could go gold with zinc plating

  • From what I've seen on the net of chrome powder coating it does look very convincing indeed, could be the wiser option.

A1 powder coatings in southampton, turn up on his door with the bits and get his best price for cash
    takes about 7 days

  • I will check 'em out thanks Keith.

Trust shift knob fitted, manged to keep the gaiter up by attaching a
few rubber O rings to the bottom of the knob and easing the gaiter up over them.

Could be in for a set of Speedhut dials for Christmas from the Wife
as Im struggling to think of anything for me. She thinks Im boring requesting something for the car!

  • So…. eh... how's that car of yours coming Sam? I like your gearknob, looks a good size.

  • Hey Marc… Its all good ta Shiftknob is great and probably my first (and only) piece of real JDM :o
needs a blob of glue to stop it spinning round though!

Will be in the breakers again next friday afternoon to tickle out
an ECU plug so me and a mate can start work installing the AEM :D
