Sam's Proper MX-3 - LT Turbo project *Parting out*

  • Hell yeah I would rock that sh*t :D

  • Took me a bit to get through everything but great work log. Your car has come a long ways since you first got it. I will be interested to see what spoiler you end up going with. I could probably make a couple of copies of that duck lip garnish I have if you would like.

When are you going to get the boost?

  • Hey Josh nice to see you here. Thanks it is turning into a big 'ol log right now :D

I would love to be able to tell everybody when the boost is getting in there, however I cannot really say for definate. Firstly the AEM install needs me and a buddy to scavenge a ECU plug from the wreckers, luckily they have a 1600 in my local now for us to pinch bits from. Then its just a case of collecting a few more parts over the winter so maybe next year will start in earnest, but might not finish till the year after…

Colour coded body bungs & side skirts should be next then I would love to install the alu. tanks for the power steering and washer bottle.

  • Alright a little heads up here Folks! just bought me one of these Trust gear knobs of ebay: M10 x 1.25

They are a bargain @ £10 delivered. Made from Duracon plastic> lightweight and easy to clean. They have been discontinued now so once stocks have gone thats it! Same gear knob made by Tegiwa is near on £30, they do black also :D

'Tis the start of a black & white interior project over the winter

  • Have you got a link to them ?

That makes the topic title sort of a tease…. xD you teaser!

  • Haha Yes I guess it does, but these things take time & money and seeing as this is the last car Im ever going to modify to this proportion I wanna go that extra mile and get things just so…

Its funny I was just reading an old Banzai magazine on there featured 200bhp N/A Spoon Civic which took the guy 8 years to build!

Yo'all just have to going to be patient.. it'll happen.

Example right here: was not happy with the way the small green hoses were sitting, so changed it all over to pink!

  • Dont you just love photoshop :D
Please Mr Bank manager make my dreams come true :!:
    .. and Gulfy hahaha

  • You've picked the easiest colour to do!! Get saving LOL

  • Well thats a good start :D Working on a premise of things that are bugging me the most,
it isnt the lack of power but the thinning red and having to keep care of it :(

  • Thats the trouble with red, hates the sun!! everytime you cut and polish the paint, you are taking more red off, cheaper and easier than changing colour would be to re-basecoat red and laquer….............

  • Think Ive cut and polished too many times now. One side just wont come up anymore probably the side facing the sun more!
Have considered refurbing the red but I really think MX3's look mint in white, plus it will set off all the magenta & lime green nicely

  • Will agree white FTW

  • I did pass a mint white mx3 the other day, have to say it did look pretty sweet!

  • Cant say I ever seen a white one in the flesh but I do have a thing for white Jap cars I mean miatas and RX7's look gorgeous in it!
Never seen a 1600 in white for sale though dont think they made any!

Yup, my eg has very little paint left on it after years of somebody trying to de pink it, that is one of the major down falls of Honda's though, the paint is extremely thin, I've seen newer models where the paint has faded so much they need a respray.

  • My shoulder's not thanking me for it neither! I think alot of jap cars suffer with it, certainly seen a pinked out celica round my way.

Anyways good to get back to work this week! I have started on the alu. windscreen washer tank should have a few pics in the next week or so once welded and polished :D

  • White is HOT! I am looking at 2 white cars one a clean 94' OE GS with all the suspension goodies and a ZE swap. the other a 93' RS but has a bunch of OE Mazdaspeed parts… Mazdaspeed or ZE i am torn... :)

White is one of the best colors IMO

  • Plus every wheel colour possible looks good …. including white
