Sam's Proper MX-3 - LT Turbo project *Parting out*

Thanks Marc I had a feeling it would be something along those lines. Guess you would be best of setting up a camera mount with remote to capture those sort of shots perfectly, will be having a go at some more photoshoots soon if we get another semi decent weekend weather wise, plus a few night shots.
Had a good look round the breakers this afternoon to pick some spare indicators so I can pull them apart for the clear mod. and happened upon these floormats!
I guess these are genuine OE? the black V6 they were in had the stitched gear knob but the top look liked it had been chewed by a dog! so didnt bother getting that. While I was there I pulled apart some of the power steering pipe work of a 1600 to find out what pipe sizes I need for my alu. tank and also measured up for an alu. tank to replace to windscreen washer bottle :D
Also received my plastic headlight covers today!

Just completed the clear indicator mod. Garfy's guide here is spot on
http://www.mx-3.com/phpBB3/viewtopic.php?f=38&t=52661Just a couple of things I would like to add that I did, heres what I started with.
Rested the light in a jug so I could rotate it at the same time as heating it.
once heated I ran the knife along here a couple of times and once
I reached the tab just lifted the knife blade slightly to pop the tab
forward, unpop all the tabs and gently pull the cover forward, if you hear cracking stop and add more heat
removed the orange bucket and scrubbed the lense clean with soft cut and a bit of bleach.
chrome/amber bulb works great!

looks great!, i posted a mazda part number on my guide for new lenses only, but im unsure if you can get them from uk, mine were shipped from U.S.
-
Yeah I thought about trying to track some down, but wanted to see what I could be acheived with a clean and polish and tbh Im pretty happy with the results so I'll stick with these for now. Until one day they might become redundant alltogether :D

i recognise that place, is it an ind est near emsworth / southbourne, I am sure I have there lol
Looking good, hope there wasnt too many speed bumps :D
-
Its is! Southbourne ind. est. near where I work. No speedbumps but I did some lovely grinds getting Her into position…
-
LOL thats weird, I have been there once in about 1998/9 and that pic bought it all back for some reason
-
spooky eh maybe its that smoke stack incerator that bought it back as you can see that from most of the 'bourne.
-
have you considered a rear spoiler? I just feel like it drops off to quick in the back… or maybe some mud guards?
-
I know what you saying it does possibly need something and a part of me regrets removing
the rear mud flaps (not the fronts though) I still have an Alfa romeo spoiler that needs work to fit
but I think will really pop on there :D
or maybe I'll just leave that alone…Joshs ducktail is nice though
-
looking realy stunning dude keep up that amazing work
-
wraparound spoiler would finish it nicely….
-
Tbh sometimes less is more and I've not seen anything I really like that much to do with the rear. Spoilers it would have to be a 'supra' style wing and with the bumper possibly a lower apron.
-
Made a nice little discovery here I thought I would share. Been looking for the right size bungs to delete the rear washer jet for a while now with no joy, happened to be looking at replacing the under bonnet soundproofing as mine is tired, and low and behold looking right at me where the the little panel poppers holding the thing in place. the head is so flush its great however the spigot (pin) is quite shy so with a little bit of silicon hose around it… voila
So im also going use them inplace of the bonnet jets and relocate them to the wiper cowling. I think ive also found a bung for the aerial base too! :D Now to figure out how to remove and aeriel then all the bungs can go off for painting along with the boot delock.
-
Ya know, I wasn't mad about the wheels when I first seen them, but now I'm really really liking that look! Nice work man, and the front end is looking amazing. Great work, very cool take on a 3!

@77d231ca89=jay1987:
wraparound spoiler would finish it nicely….
Yes I think your right, although I think it would fun to model it into what I think is affectionately known as a "sushi tray" spoiler! :D after alot of photoshopping last night Im pretty hopefull it will work….
Thanks Jay & Jayom, appreciate it and Im glad you like what Im doing 8)
-
modify one then make a mold of it and make a huge carbon one
-
I think if you had a healthy mix between these 2 using a wraparound as a base…
Also I think something like this would be awesome for a nice rounded out effect… (courtesy of Yence in the NL)
Let me know and I can remove these pics from your worklog if you want it clutter free…
-
Would be cool, would try and make it as light as possible to begin with though
Thats fine Moonegs thanks for posting them up :)
