Sam's Proper MX-3 - LT Turbo project *Parting out*

So here is my idea for delocking the boot. I punched out some 36mm blanks in 2mm mild steel and concaved it on the rear to fit into the hole
left by the lock, then it will have a nut welded/epoxied onto the back of it it so the blank can be bolted on from inside the boot, its going to be painted red so from a certain distance the boot will appear smooth and saves messing with filler & rattlecans!
-
cant wait to see your finished boot lock conversion!, is my number 1 pet hate on the mx3 that lock, no2 is the big stupid amber side repeaters but thats another convo !. :D

Eunos rear bumper + French front bumper, both have the reflectors on, (with a light holder behind) wire them into the indies, and remove the wing ones.
Legal in the UK as you can still see a indie from any angle and you can have them as running lights as well.

Want to get assembled and painted pronto! Guess thats the advantage of a red car, the orange doesnt stick out too much, but I know what you mean Garfy.
-
have been thinking about removing mine. mines already been rattle can'd there anywho so would probably have a go at filling mine. Get away with it more on black though.
-
Do it Jim, it makes the rear look real nice imo especaially if you fill in the recess grab handle part.
-
Ok a little bit more shaping of the blank this morning
then I had a M10 x 40mm allen head bolt welded on.
Luckily found some quick drying enamel paint at work
which turned out to be nigh on a perfect match.
-
Dont think i have commented in here before but have to say I really like what you have done with this! All the best with future modification your going in the right direction anyway
-
wow, lucky on the paint. looks really good in place too.
-
want to knock another one out ?, :D , parden the punn !
-
Thanks for the great comments Dave, tbh its taken quite a few influnces from the miata stance scene, but Im glad I chose that direction think it really works on the '3 too and I cant wait for it to be finished, still a way to go yet though :D
Cheers Eddy, Yeah the paint match is good initially, still think all the blanks and bungs will need the Gulfy touch though…
Garfy I punched a few spare  , so I'll hook you up.
-
hook me up too, i have cash monies
-
:D Yo K Barry, Do I need to start up my own shop!?lol
Just bought some blanking plugs that might work on the bootlid jet
so we'll see I might have a few of them spares also

:D Yo K Barry, Do I need to start up my own shop!?lol
Yes!
-
Have been looking for a workspace recently, Then I could do bumpers/splitters and other stuff too, but ideally would like a house/bungalow with a workshop attached to minimise overheads
-
Lol, a BUNGALOW to reduce OVERHEADS. That should do it.
-
Hahaha funny I see what you've done there :P On the Island there does seem to be an annoying amount of them (probably the high population of OAP's) but most come with large gardens and many with decent size outbuildings.
-
…and the work goes on! :D Picture for Mooneggs here, this is the original set up I had before flipping the mount, the rears are the pretty much the same with all collars together,
Now heres the flipped mount! This was insanely low!
so this is what we settled for….

Just had the tracking set by a local place near my work, who managed to unseize the offside track rod end that two previous garages failed to do!
The tracking is now perfect with the steering wheel dead centre, and ive also increased the damping on front suspension and once again so impressed with these XYZ coilovers, the adjustment to standard setting has made it so much more smoother ( rears are still on softest setting but with a bit more preload in the spring)It no longer wants to batter the ground at any given opportunity either too much either. Tyres still rub on the plastic innner arch guard but im not too worried about that it does however scrape just a little bit going in & out of my driveway which is pretty shallow really, so big speedbumps are off limits and even little ones scrape the underneath!
So new stance = new pictures immenently :D
