Sam's Proper MX-3 - LT Turbo project *Parting out*

  • Yes and no, tbh I know Ive got to be patient as it isnt all going to happen this year, and Im not too power hungry as Im still enjoying having 16 valves as opposed to the old 8 valve pug.
I hope what will get done this year is the ECU and the clutch put in. We have most of the wiring diagrams needed for the install I have lots of loom wire which I had leftover from last time, I still need to buy a blank ECU plug (found the part no.) so we can make the loom up. The clucth I will buy in the coming months, possibly fitted at a garage as I dont have one myself. So when Autumn/winter comes I wont
be wanting to fit up anything major. I will probably look at how an intercooler will fit. So over the winter I will collect all the other parts needed ready for spring 2012.

  • Had all the tyres changed over and the new wheels put on. Roll of the arches tommorow and drop if I can be bothered too on a bank holiday ;)
Its funny now the tyres have been stretched there is a one finger arch/tyre gap, before it was 2! Another 15mm drop would see no gap at all.

  • Looks amazing Bud…. Well jealous!!!

  • :D Thanks Hammy …...

  • Looking bang tidy

  • Those wheels look fangtastic, cant wait to see them hiding in the arches

  • Looking good Sam!! :D

  • Cheers Paul :D

Dan from Archenemy has been and gone! Top bloke!
He said it was one of the most easiest cars to arch roll and really was stunned at how good a condition the arches and paintwork were in!

The front tabs that hold the inner guard on were left in place (usually ground off) and folded up no problem. The front arches also flared themselfs somewhat of its on accord when rolling, wich was done in two or three passes of the roller. No paint cracked , but you could just see were it was going to start, so thats when he stopped. Then tiger seal applied even though no bare metal was exposed.

Well worth the £110 it cost for all four arches, as Ive got loads of clearence now and looks well factory modified :D

  • that looks stunning

  • 30mm more off the back! Only 15mm off the front though as we didnt
    have the spring compressors!

  • loving the minilites ;)

  • very very nice great choice

  • Cheers Chaps, Im lovin it right now, but next weekend with some spring
compressors will get it down another 15mm off the front :D

  • Knocked up this stainless steel fuse box cover today, need some velcro
dots to attach it with though.

Ive also got a cheeky little waterslide decal to go on there.

probably all need clearcoating once its on there.

  • Showing your usual high quality attention to detail!!! Looks excellent! Keep it up!

  • very nice indeed

I want the same for the battery to sit in

For a boot install? It would weigh a fair amount (even my little cover is a reasonable weight and thats 1mm thick) unless you remove some metal via lasercutting/swiss cheesing etc.

Oh and it looks like I need to flip my lower mount bracket round on the coilovers to gain some more drop! as I dont want to pretension the spring anymore..

I was going to ask you about where you had them to get it that low. I just picked up some ksports and have the fronts as low as they can go without preloading. Can you snap a pic of the front and rear settings next time you are under there?

  • Yeah sure probably next weekend when I flip the mount round, but I think the XYZ's go lower than Ksports, quoted 120mm max lowering on XYZ's, wether thats with the flipped mount I dont know tbh.
