Sam's Proper MX-3 - LT Turbo project *Parting out*
-
yeah basically the MX3 rad. has a pressure cap/filler on the side
the new rad Im fitting doesnt, so I had to incorparate a pressure
cap and filler hose (being 'T' into the top rad hose) into this header tank, you could of course use a header tank of another car that had
the right pipe/dimensions etc.The new smaller width radiator should allow for the boost pipes to go
past it easily, instead of having the pipes going round the houses to
reach the intercooler infront of the radiator.
-
had to cut this tank down alot so the bottom filler
was higher then the top radiator hose.
speaking of wich, going to replace the top rubber hose with this
full stainless steel item wich ive been working on.
plenty more to come folks  :D
-
LOOKING GOOD AS ALWAYS
-
its got to work good too … :)
-
Thats the colour scheme sorted! :D
-
i love it, gonna look sweeet!
-
Really wasnt sure at first concept, but my creative jiuces are flowing like this lovely Stella right now. :D
-
one of the last peices in the jigsaw turned up this morning!
I paid £9 delivered for that alloy elbow from Xenon.biz off ebay
wich is crimianlly cheap for one of them :D
just need to weld and tap a union on there for the blue hose tail
-
Finsihed off the top hose today, left it way long on each end as not
100% were the rad will sit just yet and I need some 35-38mm silicone hose reducers anyways,
Been having dirty thoughts about getting something laser etched onto this!
Just an idea :D
-
Loving it
ps where do you get the green pipe from
-
The 2.5" ID green silicone elbow
was made to order at DPH Sport performance and the
25mm ID green translucent hose was bought from oilybits.com :)Sealed and spanked the tank!
Got the spouts on, and another polish.
hose reducers ordered for top hose.
-
Dont you just love the smell of silicone in the morning
Radiator, header tank & top hose going in for pressure testing on monday, fingers crossed! :D
-
Drilled and tapped a 1/4" BSP threaded hole in the alu elbow
for the breather pipe.
Spare rocker cover turned up today, so wasted no time in cutting
off the cam pulley cover on the bandsaw so some nice anodized
pulleys will be exposed, not sure what treatment Im having done
to it yet…
-
Had to have a little listen !
-
very sexy….
PM sent fella...
-
Thanks Raines, currently thinking rocker cover same colour as air filter> bubblegum pink?!
Garage couldnt test my rad/tank as He didnt have the appropriate hoses/bungs, so thats my next job to jerry rig it all together. Good news
is His tester fits right into my header tank cap flange so once Ive linked the two together and bunged off the other outlet we can test it no problem he said :D
-
Loving it, pink sounds great for the rocker :)
-
Just spoken to the bodyshop and they said theres no problem doing it,
cant wait to see the look on His face when I say " I want it pink "lolIts a shame what I had planned for it wouldnt work out> rocker cover cast
alu is not of good enough quality to be anodized, or alochromed wich would
have given it a nice irredescent green or gold tinge. Would be ok for Billet aluminium apperantly, cost would of been about five quid to alochrome a rocker cover, so if anyones got any billet alu pieces they want coloured
Mark is the man to talk to here http://www.metaltreatments.co.uk/

Rig already to go again at pressure testing.
Bodyshop painter is now saying no to painting a rocker cover!!! Going to have be powder coated.
-
save up and get a few bits powder coated at the same time, I want to get my wheels done soon so could take a whole pile of stuff to my local one with cash for big discounts
