Why not, as long as the light shines in the right place, ie not into the eyes of on-coming traffic they should pass.

Legality asside, I would be very suprised if you got pulled over for them, aftermarket projectors are pretty common now. Unless you did a poor job of it of course!
Only issue would be MOT, but you always swap over your old ones for that.

looking at the step by step link i put up.. i cant really see a problem with that conversion as you are still leaving the adjusters in to cover for the directions of the light. etc

The only problem would be getting them legal to pass an MOT, its not as easy to get right as you would think unless you have access to MOT testing stuff.

There are several threads in the US forums about custom projectors but nothing has been sold yet. Only a few people have completed their own custom unique sets.
I did the civic projectors years ago and it's not too difficult (dremel and time). But if I remember they do not have the "E" mark for use on euro cars. I suppose you could get inspected with them off then put them back on after inspection :D
