Ahhhh Shocks and CV Gone :(
-
I have ragged my new mx-3 a little too much :(
I took it to the garage today and they told me the passenger shock has exploded and the CV joint has gone. I need to get these fixed, but they quoted £56 for the shock and £75 for the CV Joint + VAT + 2 hours Labour
This price seems very steep to me…am I being ripped off??
Also if anyone lives anywhere close to Guildford, I would pay good money to have you come fix it instead of the garage!!

As for parts i would check out ebay or fordprobestores.com.
If your car has abs then most the CV joints they sell on e-bay dont have the ABS rings on them so be carefull.
2 hours labour seems fair. :P

£31 for a cv that seems to have the ABS ring.
£56 for the shock is ok, could try proven products to get an oem bilstein, but think it'd be about the same.
Yea 2 hours seems ok, would probably take me that, but I'm not a mechanic!

Depends on the postage option you choose, express is normally 24 hours, unless you order it after 12pm, when it goes the next day.

cv joints are a b**ch to get off toom me over an hour and pain in hand for days. however you can get from local parts shop for 30 with out exchange.

HIJACK!!!!!!
Anybody got a link to an inner CV?
Mines fooked, I bought a full driveshaft but its the wrong one -£107, even though I gave my registration number so he could check it would be right!
I was wondering though if I could strip it and take the inner CV off and retro fit it onto my old driveshaft?

If it's the correct one, yes of course.

Thanks for the help guys, appreciated, as always.
I've ordered the CV from fordprobestore and am gonna order a shock today too. Then I just need to find a garage to fit them for a decent price!
That original garage quoted £290 for the shock+cv+fitting.
I think it was the CV that was 56 and the shock was £75+VAT.
Where can I get a cheap shock from? They don't seem to sell them at ProbeStore…
