Engine Number Location

ah makes sense now.
I'd go with looking on the side of the block not the head.

The one behind the head is the model number.. for example KL101-XXX or something similar..
Jono
If it says KL101 then you do not have a ZE it must say KL31 on the heads. But thats the only markings on the engine.
-
err don't think so…
@bc40ac6bec:
Actually it is a ZE, not all ZE's had kl31 heads, the newer millenia engine has a newer designed kl101 head that has bigger valves, it flows just as good or better then the kl31 heads. You also need not worry about the valves dropping on this motor. Expect to see this motor coming up more often as the older klze's are being sold off.
:?
Though a non true ze would be beneficial with jonos intentions for boosting. Maybe its the millenia ze with a little less hp and the less aggressive cams?

lambomx3 - my example number was purely an example.. not the code my engine has!
However Marco is right, there was a series of kl31 heads!!
I cant remeber what mine is… gona have to check now....
But this still isnt helping me find the serial/engine number :( lol

There is a Vin plate on the rear of the block just above the intermediate shaft
Apparently! Get your periscope out ;)

Cheers Mate, looks like a job for tomorrow after work.

if you still have the engine you took out see where the numbers are on that as it'll give you a clue as to where to look on the ze.
-
Just read that it may be only US engines have the vin plate.
Intrigued and bored tonight as I am I went out and looked at my redundant k8 for a code… all I could find was this on the back:
I don't think that's the right format is it?
-
take a note of it and look on your v5. if it matches up you'll then know its the right one. then go find it on the ze. by the looks of the placing you'll have fun reading it.
-
jeez do I have to do everything! :P ok…checked v5...
Jono, that's what your not looking for
My suspicions were right… It should read something like KL#######
I'll have a look on my K8 tomorrow in the daylight if I get the chance and you haven't worked it out. :P
-
mine is k with seven numbers there after according to my v5 and I can't be arsed to go outside and look till monday.
-
Finally….
I found it...
Any of you guys swapping to the ZE... take the number down before!!!!
Its really hard to see when the motor is in :(
I will post a pic of where it is tomorrow when I have some light..
Thanks for the ideas tho guys :)
