Fuel economy.. is yours really bad?

@cb1c6c9d94=Garfy1981:
Even my 2.0 daily driver is not the best. That will do about £30 to 100iles ish
I get slightly better with the 4 year old KA 1.3. I'm dreading the fuel costs of me in the 2.5
-
Hence I was doing £7 to 10 miles.! Damn those empty duel carriage ways !.
-
I get about 160-180 to a tank in the ZE around town then about 280 on the motorway, think bmw's and traffic lights cause that in town lol
-
I'm a 'Yorkshire man'….......... my K8 1.8 V6 is totally standard  however, on a recent summer run of 168 miles I got an average of 41.96mpg which will do me just fine thanx very much :D
Winter time takes it's toll on my economy figures tho I have a short 1.7mls to work, several trips to town, (9 mls) etc but I'm still getting 100+ miles from £20 of basic unleaded?
I give it the 'Beans' occasional but only when it's warmed up properly and my driving isn't usually spirited coz of the F****g wk roads around South yorkshire!!! :x so much so that I don't put as much air in tyres as recommended to soften the 'blows' so 'that' may also be effecting fuel economy also?
I would'nt say your 60-70 miles /£15 is that bad TBH :?

When driven averagely
My 1.8 V6 got 28 mpg
My 2.5 V6 got 21 mpg (under 10 mpg when driven hard!!)
My 1.6 I4 auto got 35 mpg
-
one of my issues is boy racers and morons with a mini cooper s trying to race me.. i get similar mileage if i floor it to when i drive slowly :/ 2800 revs doing 50 in 5th gear >.<

Leave em to it base!
If they're happy to drive a 'Pretend' classic and need to prove to the driver of a 'real' retro classic that the technology in their wagon is in any way comparable to yours then so be it! :D every 8th car on the road these days is a variation of the NEW Mini ! :shock:Perhaps Mummy and Daddy that bought many of these 'Mini drivers' their cars, also pay for their petrol too? economy figures will be a conversation that they've never entertained? :D
Also harsh and unnecessary braking is a big factor in fuel economy figures!!!!

Mexy, the only mini's are the old mini's. I don't see the new 'psudo-mini' as a mini. It's an abomination.
(Same with the Beetle)

How on earth did you do that!! Been using mine to save up on some dosh so been paying attention to the mpg. Best I ever got was 36 and that seemed to be a freak effort!! Average about 28mpg for the year.

my 1.9 diesel van did 60 >.< im on my second mx3 and still not used to the greedy bugger chugging petrol
-
Fellas, it was probably a 'one off' figure for my MX3 but not impossible? factors were:
It was summer
Mainly motorways/dual carriageways
I read the road well ahead
I feather my braking
I progressively press accelerator
Windows were up (sunroof tilted only)
car was clean and polished (very slippery! )
Tyres were pumped up slightly higher than normal prior to the trip
I lift my bonnet on a weekly basis and check fluids etc to make sure shes 'A1'
I'm a tight wad Yorkshireman (as mentioned) :rofl:Basically i knew the trip was coming up and took advantage of this to test economy.
Don't really see the point in trying it the other way, to see how LOW I can get the figure?
I'm nudging 50 yrs old and done all the 'point proving' that I need to do?
besides, I get my jolly's elsewhere! …...........................................:PThis is exempt from fuel efficiency figures!!!! 8)

wow a lancia stratos, very nice :bigok:
when can we go for a drive, :)
