Engine bay dress up :)
-
thought i'd post a pic of my engine bay > the first part on my car to be 'pimped'
-
yum!!!
-
Looks great!
Did you polish any of that yourself? If so how did you do it?
If not where did you get it done and how much does it cost?
-
i took two months off work to drop the new k8 in there and polish all of the parts myself.
i just used different grades of sandpaper and lot's of mark hours :) looks really effective. i sent a piece off to a 'top quality' polisher and it came back and i wouldn't have fit the piece to my car > it was that bad! they took no time at all on it. So i spent the time doing it myself :)
-
Sounds cool I might have a crack at it myself.
Roughly how many hours will I be commiting myself to if I take it on?
Did you do it by hand or use a drill?
Or bench grinder?
-
i used a drill and hand. Expecct the car to be off the road for around a month.
or buy the parts you want to polish then fit them so your car stays on the road.
-
Can you give me a brief rundown of what you did step by step and what sandpaper and drill bits you used.
Thanks
DAlso did you use an electric hand sander or bench grinder?
-
savage! I never went as far as polishing my headder! but i just clean it every weekend!
-
Jesus Christ, that's serious.
-
did u spray all the wires? :?
or are they aftermarket?
-
where did you get the manifolds
-
can use the probe one i think, clarify before buying one but i think thats the one hes used. can be picked up off ebay for less than £150 i think. got one for my 4 cylinder for £125
-
not sure what was used here (hope dont cause offence) but some looks like blue electrical tape, may just be camera angle as was ment to be showing off polishing
-
i have to agry there Valley dose look like blue electrical tape on the loom
-
hey after a long time of not bothering with the mx3 as my old one got wrecked at the bodyshop, I'm back :)
the polishing was achieved with sand paper and drill fan wheels. It's not perfect > but then again it never will be. I took it to a proffesional polisher who said it would look amazing > and it was worse than my effort.
I bought silicone hoses in blue and used a small amount of blue electrical tape as the origional black was removed due to the amount of sand on it > from the sand blasting i did. > didn't turn out how i wanted it to but when all the parts were fitted it worked out ok.
-
i good lol… thinking of it just wondering on the wires etc. for a bunch of them over sized heat shrink could be used. but after this is heated up. would it stand the extra constant heat from the engine its self.
-
What engine you got in there? Is it a KLZE or KLDE?
-
its a k8 (the standerd 1.8 )
-
