Fuel Economy, 1.8 compared the 2.5
-
Average was about 21 MPG in the ZE for me, but I was running the Probinator chip which is known to run a bit rich. A stock ZE ECU gets better milage than that.
As said though for the first few weeks your not going to get anywhere near that
If you can afford it, it transforms the car, its an animal. I loved mine.
I've owned faster cars, but they've always been too refined. Thats what I loved most about the ZE, it certainly wasn't refined and had a big smile factor.

I would say my 1.8 averages 30-35.
I've been tring to improve the mpg of mine and cant get it near what your doing. Im getting 26 on the nose every time!
Think the engine swap would be awesome :)

No matter what I do now with mine best I get is 12 MPG or 120 to a tank, that dropped massively with the new exhaust headers and no cat plus the only speed on the motorway is flat out at 77mph

Flippin heck!! You make owning a rotary seem frugal!!

Dunno whats up with it, since fully decatting and the 2 inch headers all round it plummeted, from 180 a tank to 120 plus it runs a little cold as I have taken the thermostat ot to try to keep the water in the system but that hasnt worked so I still have to refit it plus fit a second fan as it hates sitting in traffic so it thinks its still on cold so that dont help either hahaha
thats why it comes out at weekends lol
-
At that rate, it would come out on the 31st of feb each year.
-
LOL, it doesnt help that with the headers the exhaust makes such a sweet note and it now back fires on decelleration like a mizti evo turbo :rimshot:
-
Kinda liking the sound of that!

My 1.8 does that with the MS exhaust, but that might be down to the 1/2 a swamp still in the cat.

You're running on cold enrichment all the time! The fuel injection needs 180F to run right. Put your thermostat back in!

Just for clarification: Are you using miles per 4.55 Liter Imperial gallon?
I drove my 1.8 for three years and averaged 22 mpg (American 3.79L/gallon) in mixed driving, 28mpg at a steady 80mph. My 2.5 millennia engine gets me about 20-21, in the same kind of mixed driving. EVERYONE who says you will be tempted to use the extra performance is completely correct. You will have a terrible time driving sanely!
Converting to liters/mile yields about 18 liters/100 miles. or 5.54 miles/liter.

Mine is ruined from the ZE and even more with straight through race headers
Ive got mine down to 150 miles per tank so about 12mpg
-
yeah and thats without putting your foot down.

Thats right, thats the most i get from a tank, I knocked 40 miles off with the headers lol
