Engine Randomly Cut off, Wont restart.

Oh dear. My SE has had it again!
Right so the story, driving home on, the car hesitated twice only briefly. I ignored and pressed on.
Nearly home on the motor, engine instantly cut out. I immediately coasted, and pressed the accelerator several times in disbelief, no life in the engine.
I stopped and attempted to restart. It started for a second and then died. And would not start again.
Had to be towed home. (Thank god for AA cover)
My bets are on either Fuel Pump or the Dizzy. I have no real tools at home so I cant check either yet.
What do you guys think?

If the dizzy is faulty, will it still produce a spark?

generally not, but not as a rule. Do you still have spark?

Marco you where not wrong. After a trip to Oxfordshire, a TOT57 dizzy from a probe went straight in, and fired up!
So i may invest in another cheap one to have as spare. The Formula Ford "Engine man" says that these types of Dizzy's are a frequent problem just dying.
