V6 backbox

Hi all,

My back box is developed a hole in the seam and I've patched it up with gungum and bandage but I realise it wont last for ever so can any one recommend a good quality original style replacement for £100 or less please?

I did put a big list of them up but someone deleted the thread and I am not rewriting 10 minutes of links

either raines standard at £55 or if you want stainless then 100% go with a sportex for £130
3" is loud but 4" is nice and throaty

Thanks all, I think the second link from Raines fits the bill just fine. I'm not after any louder than stock (current Bosal is loud enough partly due to it rusting away!) and anything that is having to notify insurance.

One last question. Supposing I buy off ebay does quality vary. I only expect to get 3 years from a cheap steel backbox but what about fitment, are they direct replacements. Sorry I've not had to buy an exhaust for years.

direct replacement, just jack updrivers side rear, remove wheel and the join is there, you will need a gasket to go in there and recommend a pair of stainless bolts to undo them easily in the future

Thanks DJ. I dont know if I have got this right just for info. I always thought the thinner or (dare I say it) girth, the quieter and the wider the loudest.

Is that right?

not necessarily, its all down to resonance, if you are squeezing a lot out of a small hole it will make a louder noise :lol:

The idea with twin monza exhausts is they can cancel each other out and makes it a lot quieter :wink:

Hahahaha i gotta say it i know its me naughty side coming out but it just has to be done you get the same when squeezing a alot into a small hole too Dj,..
