Shocks?

Please advise as i'm new to this…...
Just ordered 40mm lowering springs, can i fit standard shocks with these or do i need to get different ones?

I did something similar to my 100NX a few months back. If you're going with lowering springs, standard shock absorbers are ok for up to 30mm.

Beyond that, unfortunately its not recommended.

From my experience, even with 30mm lowering springs, I had to replace the standard shock absorbers twice cos they ended up leaking… I'd recommend going with uprated shock absorbers.

Another option which I think is probably going to be better is instead of using lowering springs, go with coilovers, they tend to do a better job :)

Shocks are fine usually but you cant beat a new set of shocks all round, you will need spring compressors to get the old springs out other than that its an easy job and takes about 2hrs start to finish

Thanks for tips, possibly another stupid question,
Springs have arrived and have ordered new set of koni shocks to go on, but have been told i need to cut the bump stops so it doesn't bottom out…
Is this true and if so how do i go about doing it ? :?

mine is lowered 40mm on standard shocks so yes you can, but they will be at max strech so will be a bumpy ride, especially with 17" rims with 205/40 tyres, sorry cant help with the other problem

no stupid questiions here my friend.yes its true for lowered springs bumpstops are like a rubber donut that sits on the damper shaft they remove very easily so you can cut a piece off the bottom with a hacksaw, hot knife or tin snips.

good choice on the KOnis btw, an excellent all round shock to have
