Connecting 1.8 V6 to laptop
-
This may be daft question but I wondered if you can connect the car to a laptop (in the VAG.com style) to read codes and see live data. I know it depends if there is a sutiable connector somewhere but was just curious.
I had an old L Reg Audi which I could see live data and read/clear codes via VAG.com and found it interesting.
I saw some pictures of some software called auto something on this forum that looked like it could do it I cant find it now!
Any ideas?

There's programs you can use if you have an android/iphone etc, a good ones called torque, but it needs an obd2 bluetooth transmitter that you connect to the diagnostic box in the engine bay.

ok, thats a start thanks.
What am I looking for under the bonnet, there is a diagnostic box but it doesnt look standard as all other cars.
The car is an MX-3 V6 May'98 (R)

Yeah the diagnostic box is the one the adapter plugs into, but they arent cheap for a decent one.
I was thinking about getting one myself but I keep having to throw money at my car so I can't afford it yet :(
