@220368a358=JIMBOfred:
as i'm keepin it cheap i wanted to avoid buying aftermarket alloys and bumping up the insurance and cost of tyres as well as the cost so instead i just sprayed my standard 15"ers.

Ah its working now. My ignition barrel switch melted itself a couple of months ago and took the starter motor with it. A new barrel switch would have been £75 so i looked on ebay and got this bad boy for £15.)

Have now tinted the lights to match the wheels a bit better. Think i'll put a bit more on the back ones.

I definitely think you should name this KITT!

Not the first time this has been suggested.

Just had to take a pic of her on my way in.

This was definitely the reason for the puddles of oil wherever i parked creating a very awkward moment pulling off my girlfriends parents driveway whilst they watched and ever since having to put a plastic tub under the incontinent car whenever i parked for the past month or so.
Thought it might be an hour of a job but had to remove the exhaust down pipe by cutting off the seized nuts and re threading the bolts. The little bolts on the sump itself weren't much better so had to be super careful as i have a nack for rounding and/or snapping things. One of the reasons i left the profession.
New sump is now firmly on and after 200+miles this weekend still contains all the oil it started off with. Result.
Could somebody possibly post a pic of what the 1.6 engine covers should look like as i have a sneaky suspicion that mine has been cut around the sump and exhaust. Possibly as the screws will likely be rusted on.
-
There should be 2 plastic covers under there to deflect debris away from the sump but they dont completely cover it
-
yeh, mine has two but they don't cover it at all (i managed to change sumps and drop the exhaust without touching it). I'm pretty sure its just been cut around them.
-
Just had a look at mine Jim and its cut to the contour infront of the downpipe basically, can grab you a pic if you like?
-
don't worry bout it. Not gunna make much difference. Might be wrong about it being cut then. If it has then its a very neat cut. was thinking of bolting something to the cover to cover the sump but with 127,000 miles on the clock i doubt its got enough life left to wear through another sump.
