thats just stopping the voltage supply, i mean like when you use them in door mirrors or power windows, how do they know to stop supplying power to the actuators/motors? If they didnt then theyd just burn the motor out by having it on all the time.

I can think of two.
Resistance caused fed back to the motor or there on a timer of sorts, but that's just guessing.
It's not on 24/7 according to a volt meter.
