KLZE SWAP
-
Tomorrow I pick up a KLZE MX6 but dont really have a clue on swapping the engines, I understand I need a different loom as mine is OBD2 but what else needs changing.
I may well let the KLZE slip by and sell it on but want to know the logistics if I do make the swap and to make me want to keep it.

think admin had a massive headache with obd2 harness, basically if its not obd1 then its not going to be easy/worth the bother lol!.
id let you have a go at mine, thinking of actually keeping car on road this winter so could be re- taxing soon :D .
-
Thats what I thought, it would only be worth it if I bought a pre 94 car and did the swap straight over.

Sorry mate, did not think what obd your cars were

Mine is a m plate on obd 1.

Couldn't something like megasquirt be used to run it instead of the cars loom?
-
Yes megasquirt doesn't give a crap what OBD you are. I bet the engine would run with everything from the OBDII car kept the same:
same harness
same ecu
same vafetc but it would run rough.
Also don't confuse first registered with year of manufacture. As I've said here alot, both my 95 (m&n reg) cars are OBDI. They were manufactured in 93.

I will double ceck mine as its an early 95, everything I have found online about it is it starts from 94

Hiya, after a bit of a moan because we are now a bit skint and I have 4 cars dotted around southampton and those cars caused the skintness I have listed that MX-6 KLZE on fleabay.
The 4 wheel steering feels like I am in a luxurious JCB going around corners and the mix of KLZE + auto gearbox makes it less exciting to drive than skydiving off your bed.If anyone here wants it I will do it at a fantastic price for members
