Official time is 9.8 seconds.
I got a consistent 9.4 seconds with dynolicious, after doing about 15/20 runs. That was on the flattest piece of road I know, w/ good tyres and no spare wheel.
I can't see it going much lower than that, but I'd say with the 2.0 probe header mod, a set of stage 2 MX-5 cams, lightweight flywheel & a decent exhaust it could be gotten to well under 9 seconds.

remove the carpet - the pedal goes down further :lol: :lol:
I have seen loads of mods for the 1.6, its seems a much more versatile engine to mod than the K8, does the AZ-3 do any better as it has more bhp with a slightly smaller engine.
Is it just purely down to the management system on those and if so could it be swapped into a 1.6 or is it just that its a B5ZE and the mix of the engine and ECU give it that extra 20bhp.
Plus if you do the 1.5 swap CHEAPER TAX :D :D
Doing a full wikipedia search you can get the B6ZE engine from MX5's on the series one which are more powerful than the B6 dumped in the MX3
@6525abb519:
The original MX-5 came with a 1.6 L (98 cu in) dual overhead cam inline four-cylinder engine, producing 86 kW (115 bhp) at 6,800 rpm, and 136 N·m (100 lbf·ft) of torque at 5,500 rpm. The engine employs an electronic fuel injection system using a vane-type air flow meter and an electronic ignition system with a camshaft angle sensor instead of a distributor.[7] This engine, codename B6ZE(RS), was specifically designed for the MX-5 and featured a lightened crankshaft, flywheel, and aluminum sump with cooling fins.

I like the way you have saved 40kg in weight by having no fuel and the way the film stops at just under 70 :wink:
I make that 8.5 sceonds

There's a good lot of performance stuff out there for the B6, mostly designed for the MX-5 but the vast majority of parts fit our engines. There's performance camshafts, lightweight flywheels, headers, h/c pistons, underdrive pulleys etc. around.

flywheels dont fit i think :(
