0-60
-
I'd read somewhere that the 0-60 pf my leetle four pot was under 10 seconds(9.6 IIRC-ooh, look at me using abbreviations  ), now I couldn't believe this with it having quite a low BHP(108…...) so I went out and tested it tonight. In the wet, off a round about (so not starting off in a straight line and obviously with very poor traction) I achieved 10 seconds (or there abouts).
I had made some videos to show this but the poor light and my laziness of not yet sorting out my LED conversion (funnily enough, it only seems to illuminate the numbers after 60 mph) the vids turned out poor and pointless, so with a 1pm finish tomorrow and hopefully better conditions, I may go find myself a nice quiet straight road to test it out some more.
I feel I could get under 9 seconds and I've done naff all to the engine in reality (ignition leads, grounding kit, drilled airbox and bigger exhaust).
My point, I'm surprised.

Official time is 9.8 seconds.
I got a consistent 9.4 seconds with dynolicious, after doing about 15/20 runs. That was on the flattest piece of road I know, w/ good tyres and no spare wheel.
I can't see it going much lower than that, but I'd say with the 2.0 probe header mod, a set of stage 2 MX-5 cams, lightweight flywheel & a decent exhaust it could be gotten to well under 9 seconds.

Search YouTube for k8ze 0-60 eunos presso my username is tidyraver link it hear if you don't mind on the iPhone maybe why my link isn't right

remove the carpet - the pedal goes down further
I have seen loads of mods for the 1.6, its seems a much more versatile engine to mod than the K8, does the AZ-3 do any better as it has more bhp with a slightly smaller engine.
Is it just purely down to the management system on those and if so could it be swapped into a 1.6 or is it just that its a B5ZE and the mix of the engine and ECU give it that extra 20bhp.
Plus if you do the 1.5 swap CHEAPER TAX :D :D
Doing a full wikipedia search you can get the B6ZE engine from MX5's on the series one which are more powerful than the B6 dumped in the MX3
@6525abb519:
The original MX-5 came with a 1.6 L (98 cu in) dual overhead cam inline four-cylinder engine, producing 86 kW (115 bhp) at 6,800 rpm, and 136 N·m (100 lbf·ft) of torque at 5,500 rpm. The engine employs an electronic fuel injection system using a vane-type air flow meter and an electronic ignition system with a camshaft angle sensor instead of a distributor.[7] This engine, codename B6ZE(RS), was specifically designed for the MX-5 and featured a lightened crankshaft, flywheel, and aluminum sump with cooling fins.

someone wanna try work that out in seconds? :P

I like the way you have saved 40kg in weight by having no fuel and the way the film stops at just under 70
I make that 8.5 sceonds

Show me these mods cus I can't find f**k all for it…...

There's a good lot of performance stuff out there for the B6, mostly designed for the MX-5 but the vast majority of parts fit our engines. There's performance camshafts, lightweight flywheels, headers, h/c pistons, underdrive pulleys etc. around.

flywheels dont fit i think :(
