Wes is broken…
After leaving fest and about half way home wes didnt seem right, got back to the house and brakes smelt awful hot but just thought it was norm as there still bedding in, now got up uinday midday as im old and need lots of sleep lol, took my son homw to his mam and made my way back to mine it was on this homeward journey it happened..
A loud bang came from the front passenger disc and caliper, it turns out the spring clip had given way to allow the pad pins to move and slam into the wheel causing the pins to also bend 90deg and wrap thereselves into the pads and caliper, its a right mess, wheel is a mess needs a refinish, caliper is fubar, pads fubar and disc scored badly...So Wes is now sat in the lockup looking very unhappy...
Has anyone else had such an issue happen, it seems the pins were a loose fit and the spring clips just didnt hold them in place..

wow never heard the like of it! Not bad job to fix but that sucks. At least you're ok, that could have been bad!

Sorry to hear about Wes Rainy.
Hope it doesn't cost too much to fix.
I always use cotter pins to hold the pad pins in place. There are holes in the ends of them.
Look forward to seeing Wes back up and about soon.

Thats bad news, never heard of pins going like that before but I can see how it could happen, I have just ordered a new starter motor as I have fully burnt the one out in the equipe at japfest.

seems the curse of japfest has affected many a car!, mines still not running :( .
Hope you get it back on road soon, pain in the arse after all that time you spent working on brakes

Fek! Even I've been cursed by Japfest despite not going! My air flow pipe from the air box to the crank case fell off and the small metal pipe dropped into the air box! Bert was chuffing like a steam train today and I thought the clutch had gone!

A week after fitting my new front discs I noticed that 1 of the pins was sticking out about 20mm. I was able to push it back in. Have now fitted split pins to them.
Am mentioning nothing about how the car is running as the curse of Japfest has not hit me yet!!

Ok update time…
right had to source a new set of front discs as the passengers was damaged, new pads again as passengers damaged...new pin and spring set...
also a quick and effective remedy for stopping the pins from slipping CIRCLIPS...
Now all fitted and back to norm so no pin issues now...Thanks for the comments all, good to know you all care lol...
