Nice idea! yeh dead easy took me literally five mins to remove everything behind the front seats, i recon about 50kg not bad considering it weighs around 1100 standard.
When you take the back seats out is there a bar that you can run between the to rear mounts for extra stability?
Have seen one or two that have had harnesses attached to them. if so, where can you get them from?

missus bought a car yesterday ….finally no more car sharing . so i will commence with the stripping of the back seats . how far should i go ,thinking of talking all the plastics aswell and just re carpet all so it looks neat and tidy.

What colour is your car?
I would take everything behind the backseats out including noisy rattling plastics, spare wheel etc then tape everything to stop is rattling, if you have no rust inside it looks nice, its not really that noisy either IMO.

I did the same thing…removed everything from the front seats backwards and I noticed an immediate increase in pick up with the weight saved.
I'd definitely suggest in investing in one of those rear strut braces, or like Rainmaker said, get one welded in as those on eBay look a bit flimsy. Gives a bit more support now the seats are gone!
One (obvious) thing though...I found mine was understeering something chronic in the wet once the rear weight was removed. Not sure if that's an MX-3 "thing" though...

took the back seats out today.. took me about 5 mins , will be taking the plastics out soon. i also weighed the back seat . it is about 11kg also took the evil space saver ..so total weight saved … 21kg so far .. with about 20 mins work . 15mins spent on those damn plastic clips that hold the carpet on to the back seat.
all this effort but i dont want to get rid of the sub which weighs about 25kg!!!
so nothing gained yet.. lol
