are they 45 mm ?

I had this problem in my first one when I lowered it, it turned out that part of the shock absorber had come apart inside, it was nothing to worry about it was that the shock had now been put under more strain as there was less spring to support it and that started banging inside, it never sunk or gave up in the 18 months I owned it but it was annoying, just get a mate with you and bounce it up and down as hard as possible, you may not hear it outside but you can inside. It sounded like the strut was going through the wing going over speed ramps but it was just a failure inside the shock that you could not do anything about, if it does make the noise bouncing it and it is annoying then its time for new front shocks

not sure i got them from mxgulf i think they are 35 or 40

They were on the car when I bought it, think you are right jay, they are defo not -45mm, you had any luck finding where noise is coming from?
-
Silly question, but what have you put the springs on? 1.6 or 1.8 v6? Is there are difference between the 2 anyone? As they are for a 1.8 v6
-
they are the same
i know from experiance that 45s have coil knock
waht are your top struts like ? as top strut bearing can wear annd knock

just to throw into the mix sorry if suggested already, when you put the new springs from gulf on did they have the rubber protecter at top and bottom.

there was only a rubber at the top as that was all on the old springs
