Front Shock Replacement
-
Looking to get a set of these
http://www.fordprobestore.co.uk/store/product_info.php?cPath=51_76&products_id=1392
Few questions:
Are they any good?
Better ones around for the price?
Would I need to buy a set of lowered springs?
Is there anything that I could replace while it's being done?
-
kys are the best standerd reoplaement in m opinion
dont need to be lowerd on them
also change top strut bearings not allways nessasry but some times a good idear there is a pic on hear where the bearing went

KYB's are OEM. They're on the car when they roll out of the factory so yes a very good replacement for worn units. :D

sounds like a spring has snapped, as thats what holds the car up. they snap at the top, both of mine were found to be in two bits at the mot in january.

if thats the case, will lowered springs fit right onto the old shock or does it need adjusting.
I'm guessing it just fits right on and the ride hight is then lower to the lowered spring from what ya posted.
-
Yea sounds like broken coil! If it was your shock when you push down and let go it would spring up and down as the shock fails to control rebound. Unless your shock was jammed somehow but that seems highly unlikely!
Jack it up and look for broken coils. Good excuse to get lowered 8)
And yes the lowering springs just replace the OEM ones. Assuming your shocks are ok.

what he said ^^^^^^^^^
easy job to check if ya spring is snapped. jack the car up and have a look, grab the spring and give it a shake.
with mine two of the top rings fell apart.
the springs are easy to change as well. make sure you have spring compressors (£20ish halfords).if you was closer id help out as i have all the tools to do the job. i begrudge paying silly money to someone when i can do it myself as often as i like.
-
I'll jack it up at work tomorrow and take a look,
I'll even take the camera :)
Thanks guys.

does sounds like a snapped spring… pop it up in the jack and have a lookie and pics too just for us...

Whats a good lowered spring set people like on here?
ForProbeStore has a few but with aftermarket things I'm useless so I'll go on peoples sayso and experance.

i have apex on mine and find then a little hard i normally go with gmax as there a very good spring.. i have found also those with the gmax springs seem to look lower than mine..im on the lookout for gmax if i stay with a fixed setup..

Snap Rainy G-max all the way!

Would they fit a 92 Eunos?
