**No. A UK-spec MX-6 will have the KLDE, same as the Ford Probe.
Quick guide to K-series Mazda V6
D = Low output; Z = high outputK8 - 1,845cc, 130-140hp, 110-120lbft
Mazda MX-3 and variants only (Eunos 30X, AutoZam AZ-3, Eunos Presso)
World marketsKF-DE - 1,995cc, 140-145hp, 130lbft
Mazda 323/Lantis, Mazda Xedos 6/Eunos 500, Mazda Xedos 9/Eunos 800, Efini MS-8
World MarketsKF-ZE - 1,995cc, 160-170hp, 140lbft
Mazda Lantis and Type-R
Japanese Market OnlyKL-DE - 2,497cc, 167hp, 150lbft
Mazda 626, Mazda MX-6, Mazda Millennia/Xedos 9, Ford Probe, Ford Telstar
World MarketsKL-ZE - 2,497cc, 197hp, 165lbft
Mazda MX-6, Mazda Eunos 800, Efini MS-8, Mazda Capella Estate, (Mazda 626 and Ford Telstar unconfirmed)
Japanese Market OnlyCouple of notes - the Japanese market also got the world market engines, so there's no guarantee that a Japanese (JDM/J-Spec, whatever) MX-6 is a KL-ZE. There's also another K-series V6 not mentioned above, buuuut there's a good reason for that. All the above K-series are externally and structurally identical and the other one… is not. Rather than being a 60 degree, naturally aspirated V6, it's a 90 degree, supercharged, 5-stroke V6 and, while all the others fit the same engine mounts, will not go into an MX-3 easily. In fact it has never been done - should tell you how easily it doesn't go in. However, for the sake of completeness:
KJ-ZEM, 2,255cc, 220hp, 210lbft
Mazda Xedos 9/Eunos 800/Millennia
World MarketEdit: Also, all power/torque ratings are ballpark. I'm not about to quibble about 5hp/lbft one way or the other any more than I'd worry about 0.5s 0-60mph time one way or the other.**

Mine is out of a 626 Auto in between 92 and 02 and thats a true KLZE!
-
**Oddly, I'd heard rumours of it being used in the 626, but I've never been able to confirm it.
Are you wholly sure (as in, pulled the engine yourself)?**
-
Mechanic installed the engine which was bought imported from Japan and he has checked when he dropped it in and %100 confirms this. :D

I meant are you sure it was from a 626  I'd have thought you'd notice if it weren't a ZE, by missing 35hp…
-
Well i dont know tbh but thats what he bought it as, also ive not had it dyno'd so can't say for %100 but i had a 1.8 v6 which was supposed to be 130bhp and this is a lot faster…..
Dynoing in the next month or so will post up results.
Also mechanic might have had it dyno'd but he will have to confirm that.
I dont wanna have to change my tag line to KLDE Power :(

See, I've heard similar things about other 626s, but no-one's been able to confirm that they had a J-spec, 2.5 626 from which they pulled a ZE - merely that they've bought one supposedly from a 626.

wow there some shit hot stat's,
so what cars are these ZE's capable of beatin as standard,
cos i'm fucked off with Fiesta ST's beating a v6 WTF
but on the other hand it keeps up with Audi TT's up to 120mph on the open road, Strange???
would this be like FTO/Integra Type R catagory

**Well, you'd certainly see acceleration at that level - you're looking at 200hp/1100kg compared to 200hp/1200kg (FTO) and 200hp/1150kg (ITR), but with more torque (165lbft to 150lbft to 130lbft). You'd bounce off the limit of the MX-3's gearbox - which is 141mph if memory serves - but the MX-6 'box should allow you through to 155mph.
Fiesta ST (presumably the Mk7) has a 150hp 2 litre, so it's not too surprising that it'd have the legs on our 130hp V6. They handle like a fat sack of crap though.
Audi make a FWD TT with 160hp, but it's kinda heavy and the MX-3 should be relatively level with it for quite a bit of the time. The base 4WD model, though more powerful, is heavier and has to push a 4WD system - which means that it actually has about the same wheel power than the entry level FWD model (near enough 135hp at the wheels for each). The 4WD system gives an initial accelerative benefit through mechanical grip, but at speed it's just dead weight and wasted power - so a standing start against a FWD TT should be evenly matched, and a rolling start against a 4WD 180hp one should also be evenly matched. The 225 or the V6 version is a bit more one-sided **

The receipt i received said 626 auto, never had it dyno.
Did strip it down and checked number on heads and cams etc.. they were all ok for KLZE. :D

**I think I'll keep it on the "rumour" list then for now.
I was hoping, with a screenname like "Mechanic", you'd actually pulled it yourself :D**

Surley with him checking the code on the heads and cams we can put this in the defo's.
My dyno results will confirm this. My mrs just got an Iphone so i will make her get dynoliscious with might give me an idea. It tells you peak hp, peak g's pulled and time from 0-100 split into 10 second gaps and some other stuff.

Did they ever do a U8##
Reason I ask the V5 for my Eunos states the Engine code as U8.
Going off the Bikes I've had, The Engine code has always been right with Rotax 122, and 123. Didn't know if cars have a sep coding system?
Sorry for the stupid question, if it is a stupid question.

**Definitely a ZE, yes. I'm not doubting that. Definitely from a 626? Aside from it appearing on an invoice, there's no physical evidence of that engine being in that car.
As I said, it has been rumoured but I've never heard of someone physically pulling a ZE from a 626.**

Ah i see what your saying now. Yeh that is possible.
I just joined the 626 forum to ask them….. Will post outcome!

Oddly, the thought never occurred to do that. Possibly because the thought never occurred there'd be a 626 forum

best bet is mx6.com theres usually some 626 guys on there and think there might be a 626 forum section there too???.
Not sure what happened but alot of the uk guys there have left after falling out with the u.s side and started there own uk forum somewhere. Think heckler who is registered on this site is the guy who runs it. He will also prob know the answer to your KLZE-626 question.
