Standard, tastefully modified or highly modified MX-3?
-
I love the standard clean look with loads ponies under the bonnet.
-
Bodywise? Um, tastefully modified I guess. The 3's are very nice looking cars as standard, the only front bumper I like is the Mazdaspeed one tbh. With my own MX I just want to collect all the JDM bits and stick a set of V6 wheels onto it. I'd rather spend money on suspension and brakes than doing body mods.

well for me a street sleeper is a must, first its handling and chassis to sort then onto the engine , ain't no point in having a motor that totally annihilates the opposition if it cant handle….

street sleepers is my dad and me

@01e60a92ef=youdirtyfox:
Whats the general feeling on here regarding the above,
wich do people prefer?**It's down to the individual, really.
Red, my long-term MX-3, is fine as she is. I occasionally think she needs a bit more power, but there's nothing fundamentally broken about her that needs fixing. I'm not sure I know much better about MX-3s than Mazda did.
I have upgraded the stereo - but only insofar as it'll play CDs as well. No point changing all the speakers because a car is the worst possible starting point for audio quality (an unearthed metal cage). I've upgraded the brakes and exhaust too, but only as the existing parts reached the end of their operational life. The interior is being changed for an SE one simply because I happen to have an SE interior to hand.**

some heavy
body mods like rskillas can look very good if done to a great standard,
wich his looks like it is :D**It's probably no secret that I think RSroadkilla's MX-3 looks absolutely awful and I  whenever I happen across it on the internet (or the one in this very site's banner). I can't ever imagine inflicting that on my MX-3.
But, as I said, it's down to the individual. If he likes it as it is, it won't matter a flea's todger to him that I don't. We're both happy with our cars the way they are, and if everyone held the same opinion about everything, it'd be a pretty dull world.**

Just trying to gauge a general feeling and representation off peeps on the forum.
**You do what you like to yours, on the understanding that I do what I like to mine.
My personal preference would be to remember the place of the MX-3 - not quite the handler that the MX-5 is, and not quite the cruiser the MX-6 is, but a better cruiser than the MX-5 and a better handler than the MX-6 - and not try to make it look like something it isn't.
That's not to say it can't/shouldn't be made faster, or better handling than stock - after all, almost every road car you can possibly imagine is a compromise for broader appeal. Since the only "appeal" worth a damn is how it appeals to you, the compromise is no longer necessary - and that's why I have a trackable MX-3 being built in my garage.**

I love the OEM style with a slight twist. Nothing OTT and tacky either. I hate seeing small cars with stupidly sized wheels like Clio's, Corsa's Saxo's, etc.. with anything over 16" wheels and I detest the "Halfords" look.
There is a Micra in my town (I'm sure you'll have seen this atrocious thing Famine). It is Purpley/blue with black Ripspeed wheels, chrome shopping list on the doors and chrome over fenders. The guy pulled up behind me in the petrol station once (he was in his late thirties) and got out looking very proud whilst I was trying to hold back the vomit induced laughter.

I have. There's an orange one too - which I suspect is the one that fell off the end of the road next to Bydales (given the orange bumper in the front garden of the house opposite).

I like the stock look tbh, I'm not into street racing or anything like that, it's a car and it serves me by getting me from A to B.
But
It's one of the few cars thats make me look twice when I see one, so it's got style and ages well.
Other then that, I'm down for simple pleasures and small things that arn't in the face of anyone around it.

I dont mind if people want to over-do the athestic mods but its gotta be the fast street sleeper for me. Not much beats some skally's pulling up at the lights looking at your cute lil 3, maybe laughing cos its not a saxo only to burned off 3 seconds later…. Brilliant! Pisser! Angry chav faces!
