DJMARCOPOLO'S - The GREEN RIVET

  • Had a nice parcel today with HAPPY BIRTHDAY written on it

It turns out they wrote that on there to get it through customs without have to pay the vat

This arrived today, its a rare JDM RX7 steering wheel from Nagano, Japan
I wanted something to match the interior and after hours of trawling the net looking at crazy designs this stood out

  • what's it made out of? It's not wood right?

  • @97bbc5a1a5=Mooneggs:

    Its enamelled wood :D

  • Got wood

Will look proper trick with yo interior 8)

  • Nice! Wood is all the rage now  Be careful of 'spirited' driving on warm days!

  • The DJ technology center is back open for business

This weekend made a good start into the car with lots more work to follow soon

Fitted the front green stuff pads sunday, found the sliders were seized solid again on the calipers, a job that should take 2 hrs for all 4 took 4 hours for 2 wheels, they were solid, the rubber bushes on the calipers had stretched out of the caliper because rust and water had got in there.
That had also caused uneven wear on the inside of the discs so I put the brand new discs on the front too

Currently trawling the net for new bushes for the calipers, made the mistake of phoning mazda, they want for 2 rubber bushes ( rubber tubes about 40mm long) £44 per wheel - I have found a complete recon kit for calipers for £32 so they got the finger on that

Have sourced some in america and bulk ordering bushes and sliders as they are not available in the UK not even at probestore !!

Also, removed the water bottle and fitted the final piece of green hose I had to do under the bonnet, fitted brand new black alloy bonnet clips as the old ones were rusty, collected everything together and have another pile of parts for powder coating this week
The carbon factory will be starting again very soon now that work is slowing down for the winter I can get back into the laminating shop
I have all the cloth / leather + suede now to redo my headlining, door pillars and dashboard
The gold steering wheel I bought I struck it lucky when I managed to find a horn button that fits but also has the mazda logo in the same colour gold so that will be changed soon

Anyway, green stuff front pads + new discs + unsiezed calipers = much better brakes, the differences is amazing :D :D

  • went to collect more stuff from the powder coaters today

had some engine bay brackets, the rear rocker cover lori sent me for free and all my wiper arms plus the power steering oil cooler that goes across the front done

so this weekend its engine strip down sunday with all new rocker cover gaskets and inlet maniflod gaskets and the new parts fitted

Found my water leak so all pipes are going to be fitted with jubilee clips as the spring clips are releasing pressure in the system causing it to boil and the thermostat housing is to be re-sealed, plus a new fuel filter to go in

  • green wiper arms, you crazy cat!

That's got to be the cleanest power steering cooler line ever in an mx3.

LOL if you have a theme stick with it hahaha
The power steering pipe was rusted to bits but after shot blasting it was in good order so now its powder coated itll last a long time

  • Yeh the wiper arms are pretty out there. Didn't quite register before but no that its been highlighted…

At least dirty fox keeps most of it under the bonnet. lol.
Will look ace though i'm sure. Get em on.

  • Big crack into the car today as she keeps losing a lot of water somewhere and has been dripping oil onto the exhaust recently

Bought new gaskets all round for the top of the heads + inlet manifold

Think I have found the leak at that stupid plastic connector running into the bulkhead for the heater, seems to be some water staining there but it only does it when the temp gets high and it builds up pressure in the system

spent a fortune on replacing ALL the cheap metal clips on all the hoses with stainless steel jubilee clips

Fitted the new powder coated rocker cover for the rear bank

Put it all back together

Will be doing more tomorrow as I have naff all to do :D

  • lots of green! I didn't realize they made greenstuff pads for the front for the mx!

  • the full set is around £60 for the MX

  •

car is all back to how it should be and didnt need the heads off

Did the london tunnel run at the weekend and drove amazing

Replaced the main water feed under the inlet manifold in the bottom of the V, mazda had to have one produced to replace it and was surprised it only cost £48 for something to be made that old now. Anyway news seals etc and no more water loss and cut the plug out for the eletric fan as it was being a bit intermittent so it works fine
While stripping found the dizzy and rotor arm had some pitting in it so replaced that and the car is stonkingly fast again

Think my TPS is down to dodgy wires as this time put everything back together and yet again my high revs have returned that vanished last time when I did the inlet gaskets due to a leak

Another update I found a fanastic way to wire up my halos in the headlights using the original loom so I will do a how to on that as its very simple, I used all the green bulbs from a few old dashboard clocks I have so I have green halos to match the engine baycolour, they arent great so ordered some very green LED ones from japan now

Cant see it to well but at night she looks a bit like a transformer now

  • Been busy today, sneak preview of work in progress. big update soon

  • More work this morning. repairs and sanding ready for primer this week on body parts

and a carbon hatch garnish popped out the mould this morning

  • Love that bumper so much !!, you should use one of your boat contacts to make a mould and start producing them. Theres no one in europe that does only U.S and even that is stopping now :(

just emailed corksport for price to buy their mould. it the mould making that costs the most it would be cheaper to buy and post than build a new one

  • Should look well goood :D

  • looking good dj
