De cat pipe question,help please

  • Legal wise dont use em on the street wont harm your CAT as the plug is near the tale pipe of the exhaust.. You ought to remove it anyway more power hotter faster flowing gas..

The plug only ignites unburnt fuel anyway .. nuless you plum in a seperate fuel nozzle  which i dont advise as it's very dangerous trust me on that..

    haha,
i was just curious on the fire stuff as my mates got a LE vxr astra and it throws out fire lol,its a monster of a car.

dont think i will do it tbh if its not rd legal, god knows why his car does it and it came from the show room like it,tends to do it when it restricts.

that air filter was a load of crap to mate,i grinded the square bit off and couldnt fit the tube to the air flow metre,so ive just removed the air box and put the filter on to the end of the air flow metre.

whats the situation with the skinny pipe that goes in the air box?
do i plug it or leave it?
    thanks a lot mate

  • You need some coupling to connect the pipe to the throttle body, that square flange is for a different car.

after removing the square flange as you described it,i found it wasnt the throttle body that was the problem,it was fitting to air flow metre "the filter or tubind would not connect".
    fitted the throttle body nicely.

  • just put a warning so people dont buy them as they clearly aint for our cars.
pretty stupid and annoyed me mate

  • That sucks, ebay can be a pain like that sometimes its best to purchase from http://www.fordprobestore.co.uk/store/

My missus is a Mechanic who works for Vauxhall Drive, she drives VXR's.

She thinks that my KLZE is as fast but has better handling lol…
Also the Corsa's are a fair bit quicker than the Astra's....

    hi mate,
tbh im a vauxhall person and it was either a tigra and put the calibra turbo in or the mazda,i wanted a different car so got the mazda, now if id gone vauxhall i wouldnt ask questions as id know.

i prefer the corsa vxr had a mooch in the show room, verry nice.
think my vauxhall days are over, ive had cavvy gsi/turbo/astra gsi/turbo/calibras.
time for a change, ive got a t5 at moment but its not economical for me at the mo so sticking with the mx3 :D and im happy.
    speak soon mate

  • de-cat pipes are a wste of time!

get a old exhaust, cut a decent peice of exhaust pipe weld it in. done.

  • @f67a0f129f=Mechanic:

you could always purchase a length of straight pipe from a parts supplier for around a tenner and get someone to cut the cat flanges off your CAT and re weld the flanges on the pipe

i would if i could weld,my mate can weld but id still want to give him a drink.
mechanics gave me a link to a place thats has them for $17 and $35 post, say £25 our money which is what i would probly spend getting a pipe and my mate to weld.

just glad ive got people like you lot to ask when i dont know.

    i appreciate all your time.
