4WD MX3?

Was at Japfest today (pics to follow) and was speaking to a JDM nut and he told me that any car made in Japan legally had to have 4WD as an option.
thats right, a 4WD MX3 (as standard Welly!)
anyone know if there is any truth in this?

if only! It's just impossible, cars have to be designed to accomodate all the extra mechanics for 4wd. There's 2 people in USA working on 4wd mx3s, using the 323 gtr box and shafts etc. Requires new/custom rear subframe, a big channel down through the centre of the car beside the exhaust for the driveshaft, and a whole lot more!

and he was in the Skyline Owners CLub rob, so biggish guy, beard, glasses. nice guy

trust me, there was no production AWD or RWD mx3, though I'd love to be wrong about that, I'm sure I'm not. There were a million types of civic made, so that doesn't surprise me!

4wd mx3 = myth.
sure someone from the american oc of mx3 would have found one..
and…i dont think they did a EG civic from factory standard either, its easy enough to 4wd a car anyway all time.

i was also going to buy one of these and it was fwd only reason i didnt was because insurence was deerer.
may be some ones modified one???
i dont know but you have a few pros posting on this thread that defo know there mx3s so i will take there word on it :wink: .
