Getting KYB shocks, and 40mm PI springs fitted on Wednesday!! Cant wait very excited!! Still on standard 205/50/R15's at the moment. Still a couple of track days left in them yet, then I will probably go for 16's.
-
you should be able to go to 40MM on standard shocks, but as freedom said, you get what you pay for, you should be looking at 80-150GBP if you want anything decent

Picked my car up today after the shocks and springs fitted. First bump, (Pulling out of garage) and there is a knocking noise from the back. Metallic sounding. I have given it back to the garage to have another look. Was looking forward to giving her beans too :-(
There were some sort of wrap things on the ends of the stock springs, i wonder if this has any effect?
-
ah yes same as mine you have a coil knock you need to have that rap on them to try and stop it althow a bit of garden hose dose the job a treat
-
it could be the above, or the springs settling, the ends of the coil have a groove they sit in
-
^^correct its because the spring isnt seated properly
-
nah its seeted propaly its just 45mm compresses so much that the botom few coils knock when going over bumps
-
thanks guys, ill see what the garage says.
If they are not seated correctly, will they settle themselves? Are the sleves compulsery?
Nurburgring again in a couple of weeks, so want it right!!

Got my car backnow, they said old components in the top of the shock joint or something. Seems to be better anyway, it does crash a bit, but i expect thats just because it is now firmer.
The ride height doesn't look a lot different to be honest, but then the car is lighter than stock. It does corner very flat now. The tyres just beg for forgiveness now, looks like the next weakest link in the chain is the 50 profile 15's!
Still theres enough tread for the nurburgring in a couple of weeks, then ill think about some 16's before silverstone.
